MOC: Moai

Recommended Posts

Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean is fraught heritage of ancient civilization - the monolithic statues of compressed volcanic ash. Their weight is 20 tons, and height - of more than 6 meters. The locals call them moai.

As the legend says, they were built by Olmecs who were exiled on the island by the god Ishkur or Viracocha. The statue's eyes fixed on the horizon and expressing the asking for forgiveness. Olmecs were forgiven and taken away from the island. And moai were left standing as the repentance carved in stone .

Our archaeologist dug up from the coast sand another unknown statue. Perhaps now he will slightly open a veil of secrecy moai - the eternal mystery frozen in their's cold look.
