Episode VIII: Unknown Regions

Holocrons Revealed! Holonets are reporting tragic news that not only is there a secret Imperial Remnant pulling strings across the galaxy, but they're also in possession of many dangerous, mystical, terrifying Jedi and Sith Holocrons! All Factions are scrambling to catch up. With such domination of the Core Worlds, their search must reach out further; but where to go? 
 

Contest Specifics:

Assemble your exploration teams, probes, and shuttles to explore the far reaches of the galaxy. You will have a chance to explore planets that would be otherwise inaccessible to your Faction. Each entry title must include the name of the system they are choosing to explore. For example, "[Factions Ep. 8 - Cat. A][S12 - Nal Hutta & Nar Shaddaa - BS] Expedition to Lothal"

• Category A: Fig Barf - Create a team of intrepid explorers that will scout out far reaches of the galaxy. 
  • Must show a crew of 12 new characters preparing for their mission.
  • Builds must feature the Faction capital (or whatever the equivalent would be for your Faction would be).
  • Builds that score at least 5 XP will have explored the targeted system. Builds that score at least 10 XP will have explored the whole sector of the targeted system. 
  • Limit 1 Cat A build per builder.
• Category B: Probe Droids - Design and build a new, unique probe droid that will go where ahead of your crew or to the reaches of space too dangerous for living organisms.
  • Probe droids must be unique, but still believable in the Star Wars Universe.
  • Builds must feature the probe droid on the targeted planet. IP will not be earned on the targeted planet.
  • IP may be earned on any accessible planet by using that planet in your entry prefix. (This may be a little confusing.) If you're wanting to explore Endex, but your Faction wants to earn IP on Devaron, you would title it "[Factions Ep. 8 - Cat. B][M13 - Devarron - CS] Probing Endex"
  • Builds that score at least 10 XP will have explored the targeted system. Builds that score at least 20 XP will have explored the whole sector of the targeted system.
  • Limit 1 Cat B build per builder.
• Category C: Exploration Shuttles - Design and build a shuttle that can reach the far corners of the galaxy. 
  • Ships, preferably shuttles, may be minifigure or micro scale. No starfighters allowed. Must include room for (but not necessarily feature) cargo, sleeping quarters, and a crew of 4-12. 
  • Ships must be a new or modified design, that fits into the Star Wars Universe. We don't want to see a bunch of regular Star Destroyers or other non-modified shuttles.
  • Builds may be on any accessible planet and earn IP according to the regular rules. 
  • Builds that score at least 10 XP will have explored the whole sector of the target system. Builds that score at least 20 XP will have explored the whole sector of the targeted system and all adjacent sectors. Builds that score at least 30 XP may choose to post their IP on the targeted system.
  • Limit 1 Cat C build per Faction.

Episode will run from March 1st to April 30th May 2nd

The Rules:

• Entries should be set during the Factions Era, roughly 7 ABY.
• All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Factions subforum, the title prefixed by [Factions Ep. 8- Category][Build Sector - Build Planet - Faction] Target Planet included in Title. For example, “[Factions Ep. 8 - Cat A][S12 - Nal Hutta & Nar Shaddaa - BS] Expedition to Lothal."
• Each person is only allowed 1 entry in Category A & B & C. Each Faction is only allowed 1 entry in Category C.
• All entries must be entered using this form: Link to Submittal Form
• All rules in the Core Rules topic apply unless otherwise stated in this explanation or the rules above.
• Each Category has size restrictions. Follow the Contest Specifics, above.
• The Episode will run from March 1 to April 30 May 2, 2021. As long as it is still April May 2nd somewhere in the world, you can still enter. 
• Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified from the episode and will not be eligible to receive points or XP.
• Entries will be judged according to the following rules:
  • Your build can earn up to 50 points.
  • The amount of points you earn is also the amount of XP your character earns.
• This episode/contest is open to all players of Factions, even if they joined EB or signed up for the game after the episode has begun, with the exception of the Star Wars staff, who are not eligible to win prizes.
• All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to the start date of this episode. You can use creations for this contest in other forums or contests, but it should not have been displayed before the start date for this contest. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation.
• All entries must be built from real LEGO or with Lego Digital Designer. No third-party molds may be used except for minfigure accessories (if you must...).
• If you are using Lego Digital Designer, please remember you can only use existing colors and pieces. Also be aware that the judges will watching to make sure your LDD model could hold itself up in real-life.
• Post pictures no larger than 1024x768, as specified in the EB Member Guidelines.
• You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on ANY picture. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited,.
• All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC.

The Prizes:

• You will receive XP equal to the number of points you are awarded from the judges.
• Your faction may receive exploration data, and even IP on an inaccessible system, based on the Contest Specifics, above.
