Help sought in motorising steering on Mustang 10265

Recommended Posts

Hi, anyone come across and how to overcome the issue of the motorised steering ripping itself apart?

I've been following this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP-cngY6aDM and the section at 17.33m keeps popping out because of the build up tension in the steering because it can't turn any more.

There's no white clutch gear in the guy's video design, I've tried it and doesn't make a difference.

Grateful for any suggestions?

Thanks.

Those 4 gears are serving to reduce the speed of the M motor just slightly. They also cover the misalignment of half a stud. Is there space to leave that reduction out and go straight into the steering gear instead?

thanks, I'll try it, think I'll still be left with the challenge of a motor trying to turn against the turned and locked front wheel or hoping the attachment of the motor to the floor is stronger than the tension in the white clutch gear.

I looks like you can just drop the jumper plate and use a 2x6 plate instead, giving enough counterforce for the torque.
