Xl motor is making grinding noise

Hi, I have an XL motor that has started making a grinding noise. The motor itself still seems to work but it's loud and grinding. It still makes this noise even when it's not connected to any lego components. Is there a way to fix this?

It uses a planetary gear system, so probably one of these has an issue.
