jonwil Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Given that the use of wild animals (elephants, big cats, monkeys/apes etc) in circuses seems to be something people no longer view as appropriate these days maybe a circus train with animals wouldn't be the best idea. Quote

Yeah! That's kinda true! Given that we are living in the age of cancel culture, Lego would be under some huge scrutiny - it not more than when the elite police sets came out in late 2020 or the crook's hideout that was supposed to be released in early this year. That’s quite true. And there was also animal cruelty in circus in these past days. BUT I still think circus train may be more colorful (just like Madsagcar 3 moie) or the circus train was seen once in Indiana Jones movie. 1 hour ago, Poodabricks said: Yeah! That's kinda true! Yeah, I agree with you on a cancel culture. Welcome to the 21st century I guess! Quote
Driver Brandon Grumman Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) So I came up with a subtheme to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Octan Corporation as Octan has been the gas station company in Lego City since 1992. Though my ideas would be more geared towards the Octan Cup racers rather than the gas station aspect. So without further to do, here are my ideas for a Petrol subtheme. Road Rescue - Perhaps some type of broken down car (why don't we try orange or yellow instead of blue or red) along with a tow truck that's the same size as the one from 7638, but somewhat of a nod to the Octan tow trucks of the mids 90s and early 2000s. Race Car Transport - I haven't seen something like this since 2013 when they had the Grand Prix Transport. Given that haulers sell, why not have another one of those. But unlike the the 2013 Grand Prix Transport, this race car transport will have three race cars instead of one. Similar to the indy transport from the 90s. Perhaps the cars could be blue, green and yellow just like them. That would probably go for almost $40. Petrol Transport - As its name suggests, this is a fuel truck like the ones from 2010 and 2013. Race Car Duel - Similar to the fast track finish set - only difference being the road plates being updated to today's standards. The race duel includes a tower where the announcer speaks and an audience stand along with a road plate with a finish line. Red and black cars for this one anyone? Petrol Station - The base set of this subtheme that would go for about $90 or $100. Includes snack shop, garage, car wash gas pumps, electric charging station and Octan versions of Harl and Tread from the television show. Vehicles could include two civilian cars (a blue petrol powered car and a green electric vehicle) and a special Octan colored race car on display that's a nod to 6546. So those are my ideas. Excellent idea! However it’s the 30th anniversary... I feel like as we’re progressing to electric cars in real life, there should be the inclusion of something Octan E somewhere? Also, I’d be in favour of a new tanker wagon for the railway. Quote

Lion King Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Now I just came up with a few ideas for Forest subtheme! 1.) Hiking Trail - two minifiugres, one raccoon, one small tree 2.) Horseback Trai - two minifiugres, two horses, a small camp with campfire 3.) Water Rafting Adventure - three minifigures, raft (boat?), new “road” plate that represents river, buildable small cliff and a small tree 4.) Bear Encounter! - two minifigures, one adult bear, one bear cub, a buildable cave 5.) Bison Stampede - three minifigures (two crooks and one ranger), two bisons, a helicopter 6.) Raginig River Chase - four minifiugres (two crooks and two rangers), a raft (boat?), a “river” road plate 7.) Ranger Station - five minifigure (all are rangers), one bear, one bion, a vehicle & a station (this is a base set of subtheme) 8.) Crooks’ Shack - two minifigures (both are crooks), a bear cub, a small shack that serves as a hideout in forest 9.) Wildfire Rescue - three minifigures (all are rangers), a fawn (baby deer), two trees that have flames, a vehcile that serves as an animal transport 10.) Mystical Forest - two minifigures (both are hikers), two nanofigures (fairies), a small clearing area with a hollow tree (i was inspired by FernGully movie). 19 hours ago, Poodabricks said: So I came up with a subtheme to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Octan Corporation as Octan has been the gas station company in Lego City since 1992. Forest Exploration was something I've been fighting for the City theme since explorers subthemes started. Only for me, the forest subtheme would focus on the ancient castle ruins just outside of the city limits. Quote

Lion King Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 (edited) Okay, I have another ideas… I was hoping designers would do hot air balloon for City theme soon. Somehow, I missed the opportunity when there was a prison island set. 1.) Hot Air Balloon - three minifigures (one pilot and two passengers), a hot air balloon, an eagle mold 2.) Hijacked Hot Air Balloon! - three minifigures (two crooks and one cop), one hot air balloon and police helicopter, a new bird mold 3.) Landing Spot - two minifigures (both are crew), a hot air balloon transport 4.) Sky High Adventure - four minifigures (three skydivers, one pilot), a small airplane with cargo door in back 5.) Sky Rescue - three minifigures (two rescuers, one passenger), a damaged hot air balloon or plane that would be stuck in a tall tree Edited August 18, 2021 by DBlegonerd7 Quote

Definitely it would be a slow chase if both cops and crooks use their hot air balloons! I didn’t know City used to oversalurate with polices - I didn’t notice that before I joined EB last year. Quote

There was forest police, night/secret police, swamp police, sea police, mountain police, air police and of course regular police. They came out on a 3 year rotation, 1 regular then 2 weird. Meanwhile fire was only every 3 years and hospital every 6. It was absurd. Air police, the last one, was dreadful and sold poorly and they’ve stopped since that. Quote

Wow, that sounds terrible… I do remember seeing Mountain and Swamp Polices themes a couple of years ago. TeriXeri Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 (edited) Sky Police was actually not too bad imo the armored truck, helicopter, and jet sets were pretty good designs, LEGO doesn't do "military" vehicles that often (beside Chinook/Sea-Knight styled helicopters even way back in Town), and sky police did come fairly close with it's Apache/Cobra type helicopter, Armored truck and generic Jet. Other option in LEGO would be stunt/rescue vehicles like they made a F-22/SU-57 type of stunt jet this year. Weakest point was the "air base" set, mostly being about a hollow plane and not a nice building. Of course I prefer a location focused Police style of sets, and I wouldn't mind a re-releases of Forest HQ, Prison Island HQ in modern figures/colors, LEGO can use a proper Police Station again, the 2020 version just doesn't appeal to me. Now, I know it's not City, but if there will be more recolors, I still hope for recolors of some 3-in-1 houses/shops. Edited August 19, 2021 by TeriXeri Quote

Faefrost Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 How about a Winter theme? Maybe the City gets hit with a Blizzard? I was noting the NYPD winter gear and uniforms, with the skater type beanie caps with NYPD on them. The bulkier coats and scarves. It's a look that Lego has all the pieces for to pull off. And you could get some interesting new sets just from the change of season.say a Fire Dept Ice Rescue? Police on snowmobiles instead of ATV's? Public works crews and trucks to deal with it? Mayor Fleck having to wear his cold weather corn suit? Quote
