Here are some pics I took some time ago, would they meet your requirements?

Yes, your photos are good! Did you not receive my Private Message? It said you didn't need to audition because your previous submissions were of a high standard.

We're just waiting upon you to accept the position and then you will be granted access to the hidden forum.

Edit : They are in jpeg with white background as an example, I will post them in transparent png if they fit your needs.

If you are able to remove the backgrounds and post in transparent PNG then please do so.

Brickington: Based on your images, it looks like you are using two different color (slightly) light sources and possibly your ISO is set too high. Are you possibly using Florescent or CFL bulb in one light and tungsten (normal lightbulb) in another? Also, be sure your camera ISO is set the lowest possible and not auto. :classic:

Okay, thanks for the advice! I will try to take some new ones taking your advice either today or tomorrow. Probably tomorrow due to some midterms that need to be taken.

It would be a start. You seem to have managed to achieve consistent lighting, although having not seen the feet that assessment might be premature.

I took a few pictures tonight; this is a sample of what I did; they have yet to all be cropped and saved as .png but I should be able to do so tomorrow.

These would be for pictures only; also what is the optimal size for you? original or cropped?

These were taken with a D3000

Brickington - you're just about there! You need to work on your centre of focus though, because the minifigs in both photos are slightly out of focus in some parts, but all things considered I think your latest efforts are passable.

PirateDave84 - your photos are a bit yellow. Even adjusting the levels I couldn't make them fully neutral. What kind of camera are you using and what is your primary light source?

Here are some tests

If you're using a Nikon D3000 (or any DSLR camera) you might just need to change the White Balance settings.

To get even lighting on my sigfig, I used the flash as natural lighting wouldn't provide a neutral colour temperature without much fidgeting around with the camera's settings...

Do recommend I use flash?

I recommend you experiment as I have no idea what your camera is capable of.

I got better results yesterday when I 'softened' the flash with tissue paper; it made a very rudimentary diffuser.

Good idea! You could also try different materials like baking paper or tracing paper.

I just tried it out and the results weren't the best. I'll just stick with the original lighting. Do you need me to take anymore photos?

Lego PAB cups also make good light spreaders. :classic:

Can I play? Pictures taken using iPhone 4S, levels adjusted just a tad in GIMP.

That's a quite fine effort for a Smart Phone camera. I think these are passable!

I took some more. I hope you find these useful.

I must admit, Captain Jack's face is a little blurred, sorry for that. :pir-sad2:

They're all slightly out of focus, but usable.

Is possible you could read your camera's manual and learn how to focus a shot properly?

It doesn't seem right all your photos are consistently slightly out of focus.
