Heres a few pirate custom figs, non sigfigs. taken with a high ISO on a cloudy grey day on a cheap camera, I can take better on a sunny day and potentially with my dads new OMD...

here an old (non-pirate) photo i have taken, my quality is normally better

Your non-Pirate example looks spot on, but some cheap camera examples are not too bad.

Although it varies, what makes the difference is whether the minifig is facing towards the light or away.

Still, I think they are passable, but I'd aim for the quality for your non-Pirate example.

Here are some tests...

If facing towards they look good:

Facing away they look a bit washed out, but not too bad:

So what about experimenting with artificial light or the flash?

Regardless, if you just position the minifig to face the light they should be fine.

As demonstrated in this example:

I used my new light shed setup for the first time this weekend. I snapped some photos of a few pirate minifigs close at hand, just to practice. I've also cut out the backgrounds (and other post processing). I uploaded them to flickr. There are 6 of them total. Here's the link to them all:

But I believe the instructions say only to show three, so here are the 3 I would choose:

Keep in mind the ones linked here are scaled down to 800px wide. And flickr only allows up to a certain size, I think (without going pro version anyway). I have the full sized ones here at home. If you guys want the full sized images, let me know. Thanks.

Congratulations!

You've passed for both photography and image editing!

This is excellent motivation for me to take a photography course at school... Sadly, my courses were finalized recently, and I did not pick photography. Perhaps I'll be able to in the future... I'm in awe with some of these submissions. *oh2*

Yep, we're still on the look out for more minifig photos and editors.

The first version of the new Pirate Forum Skin is almost ready for launch! Almost!

Thank you Louie, these are pretty good!

However, I'm not sure when I'll get back to working on the skin at this stage.

Do you have any Pirate related minifigures from the Minifigure Series?
