Pop Star c o Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 So, allegedly the September 2026 release is supposed to be D&D Series 2. I don't know how reliable this information actually is but it seems like a pretty logical choice to me. Quote

sylin Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 Oh... If that's true, meh. I enjoyed the first D&D, but not sure if I want more. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 I’m happy with that, if true. I don’t really like licensed stuff generally but if we must have a licensed CMF, the D&D at least were more compatible with unlicensed themes. Even as a mainly City collector, there were a few useful parts, unlike the silly Spider-pony nonsense. Quote
williejm Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 Hmmm kinda okay with D&D of all the possible licensed themes. The first series was pretty generous with useful new parts, and recoloured animals. I guess the test is whether it’s very repetitive. I’m not familiar with the D&D world, so not sure how much else they can offer. Quote
Lion King Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 To be frank,I don’t care about DnD generally but I’m quite looking forward for some cool accessories, fantasy creature, and minifigure parts for Castle. 2 hours ago, Robert8 said: Here was I, hoping for Series 30.... I feel it’s a great selection for normal and fantasy creatures! Quote

Yoggington Posted November 29, 2025 Posted November 29, 2025 The DnD series was amazing. If that can make a sequel series half as good, I'll be very interested. Quote

Swordy Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 Absolutely zero interest in D&D, and the only “useful” figure to me of the initial series is, of course, one of the hardest to find/most expensive. Not my cup of tea, if true, but I still have an immense amount for TLG not only acknowledging Spider-Verse’s existence, but also devoting a full CMF series to it. A bit disappointed in myself for not buying the Kermit minifig to make a custom of Bob Cratchit. (At least I have Gonzo—er, Charles Dickens.) Quote

I mean, three unlicensed series per a year would be amazing. But it’s highly unlikely. Looking back at the past CMF series, we used to have two licensed series and one non-licensed until the recent years. I feel like Lego has no idea what to do with licensees CMF series in future, I guess. So I’m fine two non-licensed series per a year. Plus, Series 30 is kinda a deal as it’s a so-called anniversary series jsut like we had a Mr. Gold minifiugre in Series 10. Quote

We had sometimes two licensed and sometimes we had two unlicensed series, but that always varied from year to year (which isn´t meant to say it switched from one to the other though). And there are plenty options for them to choose from, so I doubt they are running out of ideas on which licenses they could use. Quote

And in the more distant past, we had three unlicensed sets of 16 per year. So 48 unlicensed characters per year. That was the peak of CMF collecting for me. Quote

But it’s much more common now in my experience to have whole licenced series that just don’t appeal (though I appreciate they appeal to others). Quote

Yes, the quality of design has been increased, with more dual molding and more printing, although whether that makes the figures better or not is debatable. I find too much print can mean that the figures might work well for one off characters but less well if you want more than one (name tags, rips/damage in same place, pouches in the same place, etc), or if you want to use the parts for other things. I really don't like print that goes from torso to legs as that essentially ties the two parts together but then that also happens a lot in normal sets too, not just CMF. There were some individual good accessories in the past but the average has definitely got better, although given the price increase I would expect that. I used to like the frequency as we got essentially one CMF per week, even if I used to buy/swap more towards when they were first released. So I used to make a 8x8 vignette for each one, it was a simple 30 minutes activity once per week. But going to 12 out then nothing for the rest of the year, I find I get out of the habit. I think also it doesn't help (for my interest in CMF) that we are now getting better characters (or at least body parts) in regular sets and these are easy to buy in quantity via PAB for less than the cost of a CMF. Agreed. @Black Falcon, Williejm has a good point - most of licenses don’t appeal to everyone at same time so i feel Lego has no idea what to do next license series. Quote

Lion King Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 D Following Halloween, Birthday Party, Costume Party, Space, and Animal Costumles, I can undertand how unlikely for Western as a non-licensed themed CMF Series becuase of Native Americans but what about some civilians? Like a Western lady with a recollection hairpiece from Lego Movie Series, a hermit with a raccoon hat from the Lego Movie series, Old West bartender, train mechanic, bandit lady, sheriff lady, stream punk cowboy, old west prisoner, zombie cowoby/sheriff, etc. Quote
