snaillad Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Hello all, My most recent build is close to home for me as it's based around British architecture - a small town market scene. My challenge was to try and make 3 different buildings whilst building on a curved base and also stagger the heights by adding steps/levels. The buildings themselves I knew would be fairly boxy which is typical of UK architecture from this time so a curved base and some greenery hopefully break it up a bit. The greengrocers and pub have my own signage which gives a bit more life I feel. The building at the rear has the least techniques as it was built last and I knew most would be hidden. The bay window and few window lintels were a bit of a pain to make the math work but I'm fairly pleased with the result. Anyway, a couple of shots; As usual any questions about the build welcome. You can view this and any of my builds on my flickr page here Regards! Quote
hikouki Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Wow! These almost do not look like they are Lego! Nice layout as well! Quote
Berthil Posted June 22 Posted June 22 (edited) Very nice build with good textures and details in a compact space! Edited June 22 by Berthil Quote
PossumPatrol Posted June 23 Posted June 23 That's fantastic! The work you put into the bay window and lintels really paid off. The cobblestone street and the crumbling chimney on the pub look great as well! Quote
JopieK Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Very nice @snaillad. I also like the idea to make different heights. Looks amazing indeed! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted June 23 Posted June 23 So many architectural details and great choice of colors! There are at least three details that I want to highlight: the paving of the square (the SNOT technique is crazy), the roof tiles using the tiles not perfectly attached and last but not least the creepers on the corners of the buildings! FishHeadthe1st Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Wow, what a beautiful scene. Reminds me of a summer I spent in the UK, some years ago. Quote
Yoggington Posted June 24 Posted June 24 This is really lovely. Lots to like here - but I especially like the way you set the white pillars up so that you can have just the tip of the curve coming out in the centre. Quote
BarBee Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Wow! 🤩 There are so many wonderful details! You've successfully achieved the perfect vibes with both the color scheme and building techniques. Also, the rounded and leveled base adds up perfectly to the build itself. Do you mind asking what size is the base plate (approximately)? Quote

It would of been easier to make everything flat (more realistic too) but thought it'd be a better challenge to try this technique. Thanks @LEGO Train 12 Volts Thank you, I can't claim the techniques are mine sadly but it is the first time I've put them in a build of my own all at the same time! Yeah I spent quite a while to get them to a point I was happy with them. 1 stud wide felt too thin and 2 was too wide. In theory its just under 2 wide but sets up nicely for the curve atop. Thank you very much and glad you appreciated all the details, it's around 54x54 studs including the black hinged surround. Quote
R0Sch Posted Friday at 07:03 AM Posted Friday at 07:03 AM This is lovely. Any chance for a BDP submission? Wish TLG would make something like this instead of the cramped up doll houses they release all the time. Quote
