nopingrid Posted June 13 Posted June 13 After building my Star Destroyer Avenger, I knew I had to build an Executor. This model is around 65cm long, and it is extremely detailed and accurate to the real thing. Once again, I went for a stud-less look which helped to contrast the textured greebling section. To add more contrast, I decided to use DBG for the greebling instead of LBG as seen on some other models. I also used transparent light blue pieces to represent lights of the ship. I tried to replicate the strips of greebling as seen on the ILM model, but I was quite limited by the space and depth. So, I used some pieces pointing forward to create a sense of direction to the greebling. You can also see more of the transparent light blue pieces here at the top. Just like the official sets, I designed a small star destroyer in the same scale to pair with this Executor. It uses cheese grater slopes to get the correct angle instead of wedge plates because I didn't want studs. The pointed wedge plates are also the wrong angle for an ISD which is another reason why I didn't use those. Instructions can be found on my Rebrickable, and I've also made a YouTube video showcasing the model! Quote
lowlead Posted Sunday at 11:06 PM Posted Sunday at 11:06 PM Oh hell yes! Great looking build. The contrast between the smooth paneling and the 'city scape' details works so well - especially with the color change. Great technique to achieve the aft cutaway angles. Can't tell from the photos, but any issues with drooping? Nice work - and very professional photography - thanks for posting this. Quote

Than you, the front isn't very heavy so there shouldn't be any drooping. Quote
LL1982 Posted Wednesday at 06:44 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:44 AM Wow this looks very sleek! The studless hull vs the greebling is such a good idea. It really draws your eye in! Quote
ameinild Posted Wednesday at 12:44 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:44 PM Wow, that's completely awesome. And I love the supplementary microscale Star Destroyers - they're so cute! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted Wednesday at 08:39 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:39 PM I've always loved the shape of this flagship and I think you did a great job reproducing it in real bricks! Quote
PossumPatrol Posted Thursday at 03:06 PM Posted Thursday at 03:06 PM That's beautiful! The greebling is perfect and the part edges work well to represent paneling on the smooth sections. Quote
Follows Closely Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago This is beautiful - especially the smooth lines. Quote
