sebulba56 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 (edited) Hi guys ! I think that, I think that we were all pretty happy when we saw that Lego was releasing a new steam train. The new 60511 set is pretty cute but it lacks some realism. It is designed as a tender engine but the locomotive looks more like a tank engine with its big sidings. So I told myself, why not trying to make it a tender engine. The problem it raises is that it is then hard to motorize it with powered up if you keep the original 060 configuration. This is why I went with an 044, making it possible to integrate the train motor at the back. Link to the instructions : https://reb.li/m/265748 Here it is with some 6 studs wide teak coaches that I am currently designing. This is it ! I did not buy the set yet, I am waiting for some discounts but I will definitly build this when I get it. I will be pleased to share more media with you then. Let me know what you think about it ! They should be around 3$/€ Quote

If I were to build this version, I'd apply a black adhesive foil onto the hub. Then it should almost "disappear"..... Quote

Sorry for being ignorant I'm still using PF. Also thank you for inducing me to look and see the original 60511 model kit. Nice looking starter set, if only it came with some track, however given TLG aren't too good at making their own track and there are so many good (ie better) altina-turnatives out there 60511 might just be a perfect pick for getting started in steam. Thanks ! The battery pack sits in the cab and the motor under it. On the official set, everything fits in the tender. Like you said, I also think this set is a great introduction to steam. It gives plenty of customisation ideas. Quote
LL1982 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I saw this one on IG, like it, especially how you managed the HUB in. I think I will still go 6-2 with circuit cube. But this is also tempting. Putting some figs half out of the door would hide that hub also partly. I agree with Selander that I would also like to hide the hub a bit. Those coaches look really sweet btw. Quote
