I'm a bit skeptical of the new orrery; multiple planets on the same piece count, with the previous model already being light on decoration? I expect they'll drop the moon and rotation of the earth compared to the previous version to free up pieces.

Perhaps, and some of the planets in that set might inaccurately orbit as one so as to keep the number of rotating rings down. Of course, we can discuss this further in the new 2027 Technic Sets Discussion that @Ngoc Nguyen has now posted.

Going back to the 50th Anniversary, we'll see what the upcoming 2027 sets bring. Hopefully we will see some nonlicensed and original sets, not just based on real phenomena like this orrery but also some more creative concepts that LEGO developed in-house. While we should keep our expectations low, LEGO has a golden opportunity to honor the entire Technic theme by focusing on its roots of mechanical complexity and engineering, so like I said before, I hope they don't blow it this time.

Will it make excel sheets go greener? No? Oh, make me another fifty cars then.
