Flybum Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago (edited) This custom LEGO Technic Backhoe Loader is a fully motorized and remotely controlled machine powered by LEGO Power Functions. It packs 6 motors driving 10 independent functions, grouped into Front Mode and Rear Mode thanks to a smart motor-coupling system that automatically reassigns the main motors to different tasks depending on the selected operating mode. This mechanism enables fast, realistic transitions between loader and backhoe operations, just like in the real machine, and triggers a fully automated transition that rotates the operator’s seat to the correct working side and raises or lowers the stabilizers depending on the selected mode. SNIPE Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Incredible, I will 100% buy this after I finish a few projects and built it, then mod it, I don't know if even I can add many mods but one simple enough one would be a slower rotating seat, and linking the beacon up to the drive shaft so that it spins, but I'll make the beacon so that its kinda like this: But in colors that exist in real life Lego. I would like to have a tiny 4 speed transmission to replace some of the larger motors that don;t need much torque or parts of the gearbox with spike prime small angular motors (and can even go down to using my CADA micro-motors if I really am struggling) I will use a BuWizz 2.0 so won't need the PF battery box and IR receivers!. Obviously the stock functions I will definitely keep too but it's gonna be damn hard. If I pull the other 2 projects off then I think I can manage this one however!. Quote
Bartybum Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Hell yeah, love this! Always wondered how well an RC backhoe would work if you split the forward and rear functions up. It's great to see someone try it Quote
Dylan M Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago This is more i like, than the other MoC And also i like the BIG Excavator that you have made before Quote

Obviously the stock functions I will definitely keep too but it's gonna be damn hard. If I pull the other 2 projects off then I think I can manage this one however!. Thanks a lot, really appreciated! My main goal with this build was to avoid ending up with a giant model while still keeping all functions motorized. Fitting the PF battery box and the three IR receivers inside the body was honestly one of the hardest parts, so your idea of using a BuWizz makes perfect sense and would free a huge amount of space. You’ll also notice that in my version the internal volume is used almost to the limit. I would have loved to include a multi‑speed gearbox too (like the one I managed to fit in my Centauro 2), but that model is almost 60 cm long, while here I deliberately kept the body under 37 cm. The available space simply wasn’t enough for both the gearbox and the full motorization. Your mod ideas, slower rotating seat, beacon linked to the drivetrain, and even a tiny 4‑speed transmission with Spike Prime angular motors or micro‑motors, sound really challenging. With the BuWizz setup you’ll definitely have more freedom to experiment. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with once your other projects are done! Flybum Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Thanks a lot to everyone for the positive feedback! Really glad you enjoyed the build, much appreciated. Quote
2GodBDGlory Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Hey, very nice! I think that's a very intelligent way to manage functions and motors in a build like this, and it looks to be responsive and quite playable! I quite like the use of those yellow 3x9 curved beams on the rear of the arm Quote

I quite like the use of those yellow 3x9 curved beams on the rear of the arm Thanks! Yes, it turned out surprisingly responsive and quite playable. I also recorded a small test video to show how the control layout behaves - it ended up being really fun to make. The model reacts very much like the real machine, and just like the real one it needs a bit of training before you get smooth control. The clip shows a few fails at the beginning, but also how quickly you can learn to operate it. The link is available on my Rebrickable page for anyone interested. Quote
