StefanStacksStuds Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Hey everyone, I've been reading on this forum for many years (silently), but only got to create an account now. I recently started a new YouTube channel which is a mix of showing my classic LEGO pirates world that I'm building, but also doing research and deep dives into the design of these old sets. Several people suggested to me, that there would be an interest on this forum in seeing this kind of content, so I figured I post it here :) Would be happy to hear if you would like to see this kind of content, and if you have any suggestions, ideas or feedback, would love to discuss! TalonCard Posted April 13 Posted April 13 (edited) I saw this video earlier--what a wonderful exploration of the topic! Welcome to the forum, can't wait to see the next episode. Edited April 13 by TalonCard Quote
Jack Sassy Posted April 13 Posted April 13 I agree with TalonCard. Good of ye to post the video here! Quote
CaptainMoore Posted April 13 Posted April 13 I really liked the videos. The art analysis is an take that I had not really seen earlier. Also, it is kind of opening my eyes on how I don't feel like building MOCs myself, whereas I was doing it when I was a kid. It's probably not the only reason, but a good looking "old" model looks more achievable than a modern one. Quote
Siroco Posted April 13 Posted April 13 Excelent video! Thank you for sharing. The art examples are top. I think thats why I love so much the new Barracuda (21322), the overall aestethic of the set, the box, the playability etc. Quote
StefanStacksStuds Posted April 13 Author Posted April 13 Thank you for the lovely comments Regarding MOCs, I share the same problem. The variety of pieces is so overwhelming, that I feel it's impossible to do modern MOCs because I would need a gigantic library of parts and colors. My spare parts are only vintage ones and already almost taking up too much space. No way I could store a meaningful selection of modern parts. And yeah, the new Pirates of Barracuda Bay, you can tell that they tried to really capture the old design language (while still keeping it modern), and it's exactly why it's so successful. Quote
SpacePolice89 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Very good video! The soul is missing from many new sets. Quote
SBCMayor Posted April 14 Posted April 14 This was an outstanding video. The depth of thought here, connecting these vintage Legos to art…this is great work! Quote
Marooned Marin Posted April 16 Posted April 16 This was a real pleasure to watch and learn something new. I really can't add anything better which was not said earlier, in one word awesome job! Any chance you are the same Stefan who made the best ever LEGO Pirates poster? LINK HERE In any case, welcome to the forum and I'm looking forward to the next episode. Quote
StefanStacksStuds Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 Thank you again, everyone :) Happy y'all like it. Yes, I'm the same Stefan :D Would love to do more digital art like this, but since CG is also my day-to-day job I got a bit burned out and needed a break from it. So for the moment I try to spend more time with real bricks, and I'm strictly sticking to photography for the YouTube videos to reduce my time in front of the computer. Quote
