The buildable books in the Slinky Dog set are references to the Pixar shorts Tin Toy and Knick Knack! I‘m not saying that makes them essential to the set, but it does sweeten the deal, especially if the books have an interior! :sweet:

My guess is they’ll have interiors acting as dioramas relevant to both easter eggs. OR at least one of them will have a build of Woody and Slinky playing checkers.

I have a theory about the rocket ride. It could be 'The Claaaaaaaaw'.That's the only thing I can guess by the name.

Unfortunately I can absolutely see it being something like this. Just a buildable claw machine with several green aliens. Hopefully it’s more exciting than that though, a new Pizza Planet Truck with the main cast would be phenomenal.

Alas, we were wrong.

Welp, looks like I'll be saving $$ with this round of Toy Story sets. May end up grabbing the bookends if the slinky minifig gets too expensive on its own.

I guess the alien pizza planet ride is okkk if you’re a fan of buildables but it’s an easy pass for me. Would actually have much preferred the actual claw machine or even a micro scale version of pizza planet itself

I desperately want to see the sales numbers on Disney sets to find out why they went this hard on buildable characters this year. We still have a buildable Kakamora in the pipline

It wouldn’t be so bad if they could at least at balance ‘normal’ sets and buildable characters for a property, but they’re just leaving fans of system sets out to dry :sceptic:

The builds themselves are awesome though. Lotso especially is shockingly good.

Yeah it’s disappointing they went down the buildable only route. I do miss the 2009-2010 wave of movie tie in sets.

The Wild West has leaked, it appears to be a 4+ set with a barn, Woody, Jessie, Bullseye and two unicorns. I’m assuming this is the only Toy Story 5 set?

Maybe it makes sense with whatever the plot of TS5 will feature.

Sure, but this is a weird tie-in set considering it doesn‘t feature any new characters from the movie :snicker: Granted, the villain is a tablet, but they still could‘ve featured her in a set!

Might there be more TS5 sets, though? Seems like Disney's going huge on it.

I’m surprised there isn’t at least a set with Buzz given that this is a movie year  But buildable characters and 4+ are usually Lego’s approach with Disney sets for the most part so it was always futile hoping for playscale stuff anyway.

I’d really like to understand why buildable characters are the only thing to occupy the ‘in-between’ for 4+ and 18+. Does Lego’s market research really indicate that people simply aren’t interested in, you know, normal Lego sets?

Please tell me that wild west set is an April tools day!

Nope, it‘s real! They accidentally revealed it through the lifestyle images of the Slinky Dog set :snicker:

Also, the Main Street set allegedly has 3899 pieces!

Truly surprised that this is the line up we get for one of Disney’s largest franchises. Was hoping the slinky bookends would be more similar to the Villians Icon set we got a few years back, especially with it coming in the middle of the 30th anniversary year. Even the buildables just seem like a missed opportunity. Give us a buildable woody/buzz combo similar to their very iconic pose together (back to back)

The buildable Lotso, the Slinky „minifig“ and Bullseye returning are all absolute wins in my book, but I have to say this is a strange way to tie in with Toy Story 5. Maybe the playsets based on 3 and 4 underperformed back in the day? :shrug_oh_well:

I'm surprised there isn't a brickbuilt tablet for the Lilypad villain. Maybe being a new character, they don't want to make a set entirely on her since she's not recognizable or popular enough yet. Unlike Lotso, who remains popular and gets regular merchandise more than a decade after his movie. But they could easily have given us a set on Bonnie's room featuring a minifigure scale version of the Lilypad tablet. We've never gotten Bonnie's toys in Lego form either (Dolly, Pricklepants, Trixie, etc.) I'm surprised they didn't bring back Forky or introduce his bride. Feels like a lot of missed opportunities here.

Oh, how sad! No Rex, Hamm, Buzz...

Even stranger since they brought back the Bullseye mold, so you'd think they'd bring back Rex or Hamm's molds. Rex was even in the TS4 sets.

The lack of Buzz is the most odd part about all this. Most movie reports have said that Jessie and Buzz are the two main leads of the movie, with Woody taking a backseat. Something I think Disney pushed since TS4 was criticized for the lack of emphasis on Jessie and especially Buzz, plus all the Lightyear rebranding backlash. Disney/Pixar seemed to realize that their most popular and profitable character, Buzz, needs a massive overhaul since the public isn't liking what's been done to him. Wondering if the fact that all the Lightyear sets didn't sell at all is why Lego is avoiding Buzz now for TS5 sets. Maybe they think the failure of those sets was more on the character than the actual movie.
