Looking forward to seeing that one revealed It’s a “reference image”, NOT a digital mock up. Guessing it’s an existing MOC which OP is using to illustrate the exact building and bridge included and the rough scale. I wouldn’t take it as gospel for figuring out the exact dimensions or whether or not the castle will have four towers or just two. I’m guessing four since that’s what the official Lego prototype from the early manuals had. Quote
JS038 Posted February 17 Posted February 17 I will also concede that the inclusion of the Bloody Baron and the Slytherin common room is an indication that this is the final wave of this castle (I had hope it would go longer). That said, it does put them in an interesting position for January. The show may not air until after the first wave of sets. Will they do a wave with no castle expansions in January 2027? Will they have a couple more from this line (maybe just interiors)? Will they jump the gun and have TV show sets ready? Or would they be bold enough to start yet another castle lineup for the movies (feels low likelihood) Quote

Certainly not in January when the show likely airs in autumn I‘m also still not convinced they‘ll go all in on this show when they were hesitant with the Marvel and SW streaming shows even. Mando only got a full dedicated wave after S2 dropped, with subsequent shows getting a small handful of sets each, while most of the Marvel D+ shows got nothing I think they‘ll won‘t abandon the movies anytime soon for two reasons: A) the show will take like 10 years to finish (if they even make it that far, a streaming show with 7 seasons is almost unheard of), so they won‘t have much material to cover until each new season drops. With parallel movie sets, they can provide much more variety. B) As I said before, show merch will be risky in the beginning since nobody knows how well it will do. Movie merch in contrast is a proven success. Even Hasbro stated that they will also focus on the movies with their newly-acquired license. Quote
BrickMatit Posted February 17 Posted February 17 @JS038 Not that is written in stone, but until now LEGO has always released new castle and big sections of the castle in summer. So I won't expect a new system in January 2027. Maybe there will be a minor set, like Flying Lessons or Hospital Wing and/or some HBP/DH or interior sets. I don't know how wise can be to start a new castle based on movies, with a TV series on air. LEGO could continue producing adult targeted set based on movies and starting a smaller and more affordable castle based on the TV series targeted at children. Quote
brickbride Posted February 17 Posted February 17 (edited) The last time they switched systems, we got a kind of "bridge sets" that could somewhat work with either the old or the new system (Boathouse, Owlery) or even as stand-alones (Hagrid's Hut). I could see them going for something like this again in January, i.e. we're still missing the Quiddich Pitch, Triwizard dragon, and Whomping Willow for this system which could also double for the next. As long as the sets are trailer focused which there should be already something out this year for that, WB probably is fine with it. Also not like the plot of HP is new or the cast is unknown to those who care. 15 minutes ago, brickbride said: The last time they switched systems, we got a kind of "bridge sets" that could somewhat work with either the old or the new system (Boathouse, Owlery) or even as stand-alones (Hagrid's Hut). Exactly. A new modular castle could start that fits both the current and upcoming one. Even could start with the Astronomy Tower and the later movies and then start releasing the early movies at the end of the new wave. Lego is the biggest toy company in the world for a reason and its not just blind brand loyalty (thought that helps). Quote
Mom builds lego Posted February 17 Posted February 17 So is this what we are expecting for the East Wing? (The bit I have circled, minus the hospital piece on the left). Looks like a decent size and depth, I can’t wait to see what they squeeze in there! Quote
Black Falcon Posted February 17 Posted February 17 10 hours ago, Roebuck said: So far I have not much interest in the series, but will of-course watch it and it will most likely not be bad, mediocre as a worst case scenario. So this is probably a great opportunity to go all in for Lego and make sets for the series. If they do not sell they can just go back to sets from the films again, maybe some sets for adults based on the movies are released in the same waves, but I start to expect series sets next year now At least we get the chance to get some figures and scenes that were omited in the films like Firenze and actually, even if they would go back to the movies, the license could allow them to add stuff to the movie sets that were only shown in the series. So we will see. 29 minutes ago, Mom builds lego said: So is this what we are expecting for the East Wing? (The bit I have circled, minus the hospital piece on the left). LDM Posted February 17 Posted February 17 So where we expecting the bridge to come from? Seems like a big omission if it isnt part of the final sets. Quote

The Viaduct Bridge is in the East Wing. That was confirmed in the most recent leak (there was debate on the first leak of stone vs viaduct). Its why its a 2,100 piece set (Main Tower) and not an 1,700 piece set (Great Hall). Quote
Virginia_Bricks Posted February 17 Posted February 17 76478, if real, has 1,182 pieces and is age rated 10+. Quote

Hmmmm I don’t want to get my hopes up but this might be another Hogwarts extension. Struggling to think what else it could be. Not the Astronomy Tower cause it would need a bigger piece count maybe the Bell or Central Tower. Edited February 17 by RODDY Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Fingers crossed it actually is a castle extension, and if so, one NOT based on PS/CoS. Pretty please? Quote

Even if they wanted to make it PS/COS based I don’t think they can, they’ve legit run out of scenes I’d love OOTP with Umbridge’s Office, Divination since it appears during Umbridge’s inspections, and Dumbledore’s Army Room of Requirements. But I’m tempering my expectations I don’t want to get hurt. GOF only really has the Yule Ball and Prefects Bathroom, HBP has Astronomy and Slughorn. DH has been complete with the Ravenclaw Classroom, Room of Requirements GWP and Chamber of Secrets. Edited February 17 by RODDY Quote
Modal Posted February 17 Posted February 17 It's a bummer in my opinion that this castle line is ending where the 2018 microscale ended. I would like to see the whole castle done officially in this style, but I guess we are just never going to get that. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 17 Posted February 17 The Dobby set is allegedly a 2-in-1, with the second option being Kreacher! I can see the nightmare fuel already. Quote
BrickMatit Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I would take info from that site with a very very very big pinch of salt - it has some very wrong info about East Wing. However, if you are not easily impressed or upset, you can read description of all other summer sets. For example, Forbidden Forest: Expecto Patronus is said to have only 2 minifigures (and in this case it's easy to understand there won't be Sirius). Knockturn Alley Shops with 5 minifigures is said to let you recreate Harry's accidental Floo powder journey or Lucius Malfoy’s secret dealings (if this would be the case, character would be Harry, Lucius, Borgin and, I assume, Hagrid and the Witch in the alley). So a CoS set, even with references to HBP (cursed necklace and vanishing cabinet). Quote

akaseim Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Hi everybody :-) Here we are saving for our two missing sets (Main Tower and Hospital Wing) and of course the summer wave, and I would like to know when you think it's the best moment to buy whatever set. I know in September it's the Back to Hogwarts and you get a polybag and a GWP set if you buy a big set, but I've read there's also a third gift for the purchase of the collector set or something like that, and I'm not sure if this set is one of the sets we already know or it's a different set with no leaks yet. If there will be another +200€ set in September I can jump and cry at the same time :-D On the other side, is there any double points or gift with the summer wave? Do you think the Main Tower can get a disccount or something this year? Thanks :-) Quote

Do you think the Main Tower can get a disccount or something this year? Thanks :-) The past two years we’ve gotten metal collectors items with the Burrow and Hogsmeade (a Weasley Clock magnet and a hanging Hogsmeade signs metal standee respectively), but it’s only been those two times for set specific GWPs for Harry Potter. The fact of the matter is there currently isn’t any info at all on a potential large direct to consumer (D2C) set or a gift with purchase. Which is concerning given the current rumors also say we’re not getting an advent calendar this year. Quote
BrickMatit Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) @akaseim Main suggestions, based on my experience and purchasing habits: 1) don't buy directly by LEGO, never , unless you can't avoid it; 2) don't rush, but don't even wait the last moment . In general, the only two reasons I can see to buy directly from LEGO are: a set is exclusive, so you can't buy it in any other place or there's a GWP you're interested in. No other reason, for me, to pay full price at LEGO. I don't know in Spain, but even in Italy, that for what I know it's not a place with so various discount occasion on LEGO, you can simply wait a bit and look for interesting discounts. LEGO double points give you nearly a 10% value in Insider Points, but it's not properly a discount, because you have to use them on the next direct purchase on LEGO. Of course, you have also to consider shipping costs, but for example Amazon - in Italy - has a threshold of 35€, that can easily be overcome with a medium-sized LEGO set. Just as an example, I bought the Great Hall from an italian seller, paying 149€ - so 25% of discount. It's pretty rare for LEGO to have similar discounts: I see it for set that are going to be retired, but waiting for the last moment can be risky. When for some reason you have to buy directly from LEGO, of course try to maximize your expenditures, waiting for GWPs or double points. As you say, LEGO Back to Hogwarts on 1st of September is the best occasion. There are GWPs tied to a purchase threshold - for example it was 130€ for Gringotts Vault, Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network and also Room of Requirement - so I tend to keep some sets for my September purchases and deciding wheter or not to buy them looking at the GWP. That's why I haven't bought any Winter Wave sets yet. Let's just say I'm almost always behind on LEGO releases . Other GWPs are tied to a specific set. I admit that I was not interested in those, so I was not on a rush when buying Hogsmeade or The Burrow - and in the end I bought only Hogsmeade the next double points occasion. But if you interested in them, of course you have to buy them in that occasion. We don't really know, at the moment, if there will be a Collectors' set this year. There's an unknown set, said to be 129,99$, but with no other info. In my opinion it's too cheap for being a Collectors' set, so maybe there's another unknown set, even if it's strange to not know its existance now. CONCLUDING If I were you, I would likely look for interesting discount for Main Tower from seller outside from LEGO. I don't think LEGO will discount it - I don't really know if LEGO has ever discounted Great Hall - surely not this year, considering the Main Tower is said to be retired in summer 2027. And I would keep Hospital Wing for Return to Hogwarts event, so to have surely something to buy in order to reach the threshold for the GWP - if there will be one - with some of the summer sets (if you buy only playsets, there won't be a so hard choice, however, considering we know about Knockturn Alley, Expecto Patronum and East Wing). If there will be a Collectors' set you'll interested in with an interesting GWP you can buy only this set and very likely have every GWPs available that day. Sorry for the length of the comment Edited February 20 by BrickMatit Quote

Thanks for the info :-) I don't used to buy from Lego but last year I missed the Room of Requirememts because I bought all the set I wanted already I don't want to plan my shopping and then miss a GWP like last year :-( So, I think I'm gonna buy Main Tower and Hospital Wing in another place when I get a good price and wait for the East Wing until September to see if Lego gifts something I like. I would love a class or an office form a proffesor so... maybe we are lucky :-) Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 20 Posted February 20 (edited) I might misremember it, but didn’t we learn about Hogsmeade pretty late last year? I do remember arguing that there likely wouldn’t be a D2C, only for the set number to pop up later and prove me wrong Edit: Just looked it up, we first heard about last year’s D2C set on Feb 20th, so exactly one year ago! So technically, it’s still possible we might get one this year Edited February 20 by BrickBob Studpants Quote

I was one who didn't doubt it even though it seemed quiet and I feel the same this year. Lego is putting out more HP sets this year and the AC being discontinued doesn't indicate a D2C wouldn't come. Especially with DA, Gringotts (in the US at least), and Icons all now retired they have room for more D2Cs in the inventory. Quote
