Meh, I think both the Marvel and DC ones are actually better. Both get two figs and just look more exciting overall. Spider-Man in the Marvel polybag even has arm printing!

I also think this one is a downgrade compared to the Flying Lesson (which again had two figs, counting the statue, and still gave us valuable parts like the Snitch).

At the very least they could use the polybag format in order to give us characters other than Yet Another Generic Harry.

A picture of the polybag / paper bag is out there! No Dumbledore minifig, but it‘s nice to get baby Fawkes, the Sorting Hat, and the Sword of Gryffindor in a really cheap set ^^

Given how many of the collectible portraits are based off paintings seen in the headmaster’s office, I do wish they’d given us a section of wall with one of them. Beyond that, giving us a polybag that’s essentially a recreation of a single room from the previous year’s flagship set is pretty odd.

The new polybag is not the most original, but as a cheap purchase or little gift for a child it's pretty good I think with some cute accessories. Like @Gorilla94 I think the windows for the desk look nice aesthetically.

Interestingly in the UK, the new Sorting Hat Ceremony set is temporarily out of stock, but the Cornish Pixie is also. So I think there is an answer to why we keep getting the buildable creatures. The Lovegood House is also on a week's backorder.

Basically a cheap way for those who can't afford the Main Tower to get most parts of Dumbledore's office. Those who can afford the Main Tower will likely just get this polybag for free in September, so don't need to tailor this as unique.

In the US, the PS Collector's Edition set and Lovegood house are on backorder. I think the Lovegood house will be the best selling set of this Jan 1 wave (though it is slated to retire already this year, which I think gets extended)

The polybag has first or second year Harry (short legs) and a baby phoenix, how does that go together? Do LEGO think baby Fawkes could carry that sword into the Chamber?

So a polybag is basically just a GWP for whoever buys the latest overpriced D2C? Here they are sold in stores. I therefore should think LEGO would want to make them appealing to a broader public. How many people are going to be all "I must have Generic Harry for my Dumbledore' Office Without Dumbledore Display"?

Even for an impulse buy I can see a kid handing this to their parent and them going: "No way, you have how many Harrys at home already?".

They should have given us the Snape Boggart instead.

Especially happy about the sword, since I really like that one.

It depends I guess. I do like the Batman one, but the Spider man one is pretty useless to me personally. On the other side I really liked the last Harry Potter Polybag for the stuff included (aside from Harry) and the new one is actually not that bad - the sword is great, birds are always usefull too and brown parts anyways - the only thing I can´t really see use (for me) are once again Harry and the Sorting Hat. Still from the ones mentioned that Spiderman one is the worst to me and especially compared to the last one - but again, depends on personal preferences really.

The Pixie is on Backorder here and the sorting head ceremony out of stock, while all the other new Sets are still avaiable, including the Lovegood house. But yeah, interesting to see that the Pixie is sold out.

Wasn´t it in the Chamber of Secrets (book/film) where Fawkes died while Harry was present? And in the exact same scene he was reborn so to me it makes a ton of sense.

Polybags (or paper bags now) rarely introduce new prints. The only one that did so in the last like 5 years was the Maple polybag two years ago

I‘d rather they have Boggart Snape in an actual set so they can give him a proper new hat :snicker:

What I meant, was the main audience buying polybags are kids. $5 is allowance money and so for them this is a great way to get the Sorting Hat, Sword of Gryffindor and Baby Phoenix. The Sorting Hat is now in a $15 set, so that is accessible, but the Sword of Gryffindor till this polybag was only in currently sold sets that were $100+ (was in a CMF before). The Harry minifigure is disappointing and honestly not the attractive part of the polybag.

For adult collectors, they either can afford a $100+ set that will include the sword or will spend the ~$140 in September and this polybag is free plus the regular HP GWP. So they are less incentivized to actually buy the polybag.

They're not giving us the Snape Boggart in a set because if they wanted to, they would have included him in the Hospital Wing. So it looks like we're not getting him at all.

I guess I must be the only adult HP collector who's not doing either, then.

They could easily release a DADA classroom set in the same style as the cauldron, i.e., a foldable Boggart cabinet :sweet:   Granted, a cabinet is not as immediately recognisable as a cauldron, but the movie design is pretty unique (and that tracking shot is chef‘s kiss).

Off topic but is anyone else annoyed that after all this time they have not re-used either of those parts multi-packs from 2 years ago?

the wands pack from the Olivandar’s shop set (would have been perfect to include with the Malfoy Manor House in black)

the spell/blast effect pack which was available in the battle for Hogwarts castle set.

to be honest I wouldn’t say no to them appearing in an advent calendar in a new colour (black wands, yellow blast effects etc), they did it for Marvel once.

So Star Wars just got a massive info dump for the names of upcoming sets going through to August.

Am I being too optimistic to think we might get some summer Harry Potter names soon?

I've got a total brain blank on leak timings of past years.

I'm guessing February. Star Wars always leaks first and I think Pokemon is up next (I personally believe leaks are intentional).

Usually late January or early February, but I think last year's list appeared exceptionally early. I'd say within 2-3 weeks :sweet: I'm curious to see if they're able to conjure something from my wishlist, ridiculously short as it now is. The two biggest things previously on there were just crossed off in one swift blow, after all! Fingers crossed for a Battle of the Department of Mysteries set and a new Gambledore minifig! Beyond that, I'm running out of things to ask for :laugh_hard:

I’d love to see this as well, along with a playscale Gringotts based on DH Part 2 and the Inferi scene from HPB. The latter would make for an awesome diorama.

I’m guessing that with 3 of the 4 Hogwarts House Ghosts now being released under the current castle system, we can expect one of the summer expansion sets to include the Slytherin Common Room and the Bloody Baron?

Thank you everyone. Hopefully we shall see some set names for the summer within the next month then. :classic: And yes Gambledore would be most welcome, as would Neville, Luna, Ginny and Ron from the Department of Mysteries, especially the first two as the later were released wearing those outfits back in 2010. A DH Ron would be nice also, but that's probably too hopeful! Oh and a fluffy Crookshanks.

I'm re-posting this.  Here is my dream lineup of how I would hope they finish out the Hogwarts Castle line, across the next two years.

Hogwarts Castle: Clock Tower - Provides one or two sides of the quad behind the Main Tower, and connects to the Hospital Wing.  I'd like the clock tower itself to be relatively film-accurate when viewed from the front or the back, so we get the iconic exterior and courtyard while also not revealing interior play features when viewing the Hogwarts model from the front.  I'd suggest that the top level of the tower should have the full grey roof visible from both sides, while the bottom half (which will be hidden behind the Main Tower set) could be open, either displaying a classroom or two or the swinging pendulum.  If LEGO chooses to fully enclose the quad, this set could be L-shaped and offer three classrooms, mirroring the Hospital Wing set.  I'd love to see another version of the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, providing additional iconic elements.  So perhaps this set could include Moody's class (with foe glasses, the blackboard, and some spiders) and the Prefect's bathroom?  I like the idea of each large set including a big fig, and these rooms that I picked are Goblet of Fire themed, so I'd pick the Hungarian Horntail for this one.

Hogwarts Castle: Lockhart's Class - A modular classroom set that features more iconic Defense Against the Dark Arts elements, such as the dragon skeleton, the pixies, the small balcony, and Lockhart's giant portrait.

Hogwarts Castle: Astronomy Tower - A thinner but tall set, including several thinner rooms, stacked vertically.  It can optionally connect, via a suspension bridge, to the side of the Hospital Wing set.  It would be Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince themed, including a Room of Requirement (Dumbledore's Army style), Divination class, Umbridge's office, the Slug Club party, and the Astronomy class at the top.  Perhaps a small jail cell for Sirius' escape, and we could get a Buckbeak big fig.

Hogwarts Castle: Viaduct Entrance - This would be a smaller set, similar in size to the Hospital Wing, and it would connect adjacent to the Astronomy Tower set.  On the top floor would be the library with restricted section, and the Slytherin common room in the basement.  Perhaps a potions storage room or Snape's office also?  Bloody Baron for this set!

Hogwarts Castle: Chamber of Secrets - A lot of people think that the Chamber should be under the Viaduct Entrance.  I'd prefer to see more of the right side of the castle, completing the whole facade.  I'd prefer for the Long Gallery and Bell Towers designed to be a large Chamber of Secrets themed set.  The Flying Lesson would finally have a connection point, and this set would connect to the Viaduct Entrance set.  On the upper level would be Moaning Myrtle's bathroom and the "The Chamber of Secrets Has Been Opened" hallway.  Under Moaning Myrtle's bathroom could be the entrance to the Chamber, with the iconic door and bones.  The wider section of the basement would include the walkway with snake statues and the large Slytherin head statue.  The big fig would be the basilisk.

Hogwarts Castle: Battle of Hogwarts - The stand-alone viaduct that connects the Viaduct Entrance to the Great Hall.  This set would include several Deathly Hallows minifigures, including Voldemort, Harry, Neville, and Nagini.

And just because...  Hogwarts Castle: Whomping Willow

That's a really dark scene, though, with no real way to lighten it up. The only similar set I can think of so far would be the Rise of Voldemort, and I don't think that one did so well commercially. Sure we've had our share of fairly dark DH sets lately but those were mostly kiddified, you know? Motorcycle chase (a staple in LEGO's action themes), home of the quirky Lovegoods, Malfoy Manor with toilet humour and a massively oversized lobster in the kitchen, that kind of thing.

Probably... it would need a real intention to make the customers angry at this point to come up with the idea to skip him.

I imagine that Star Wars is leaking first with Pokemon rumored next because those are the themes that supposedly feature the new smart brick, which Lego just officially announced. That means Harry Potter will probably have to wait a few weeks for leaks, but it also means that Harry Potter fans will be able to hunker down and watch as the chaos of the smart brick introduction is worked out from a safe distance.

I wouldn’t bet of that – Nick and the Friar came in the flagship sets of separate years. The Grey Lady coming in a smaller winter wave set could easily mean that she’s the house ghost for this year. Keep in mind, the most guessed location for this year’s big summer set is the Chamber of Secrets, something that would not leave any room in the dungeon level for the Slytherin common room and could easily include Moaning Myrtle as the token ghost. If that’s the case, it would make much more sense to see Slytherin represented next year.
