[TC30] Workout Equipment

Hello everyone! 
I am quite glad this contest came about because I struggle to commit to one idea, and finish it (especially if it is big). For this 2 part contest, I am working on a flipping gymnast similar to to this: 

the main part will be the base, and the other part will be the gymnast. 
here is the base so far:

I plan to use a ratchet system with a gear on the gymnast to get him to rotate, and a quick release mechanism up top to release him.

Like the idea. And separation to parts is interesting :) I just still not shure about this contest main idea.

This is indeed not what we had in mind. The idea is the have two separate standalone models. These models seem to need each other (like a trailer on a truck). But since I have not clearly stated this in the rules, it would not be fair to deny this one.

I think it was clearly said in the rules with the car and trailer exemple. If that is accepted it would be hard to deny anything else in the future...I mean the contest just started and that's the first shared idea.

On another hand the base and gymnast together could be a 300g MOC

Yeah, that's true. The car and trailer example was pretty clear.

I guess I need to make the rules clearer.

Question though; this could be a MOC of a person and a MOC of a gymnastic device. Just like you have a MOC of a car and a MOC of a trailer. How do we describe this in the rules?

I think it's worth looking at whether the two MOCs can be sold as separate sets. For example, the Gymnast + Horizontal Bar set would be a decent set, but if you sold them separately, no one would buy them.

Maybe they weren't that clear.

But if you can come up with something else, that would make my life easier

Make another piece of gym equipment with another gymnast as the second MOC? That would follow the rules I think?

I do think this would be fine to be a single one of the 300g MOCs, though, so long as you can fit within that weight!

It's a cool idea; I remember playing with one of those toys before!

Hello,

seeing as how my previous project was considered illegal by the contest rules, I’ve spent the past couple days coming up with and creating a new idea: some workout equipment.

I decided to go this route because it is similar to what I wanted to do previously with the gymnast. The two projects will be 1) a bench press setup with weights and 2) a leg press setup with weights.

here is the finished bench press:

 

 

 

for the second project, the leg press, which is still being built:

You don't have to quit the gymnast project because of the rules! It only need to be below 300g and the bench press can be the second model.

Yes, I dont plan to quit it. However, that isn't entirely in the same category, plus I want to do the leg press as well. It will be finished, I'll probably work on finishing it once I do the second project.

It would be cool if you could make the figure actually press the weight, maybe with some crank mechanism.

Yup! I might work on that after I get the leg press mostly done. I toyed with that a little bit, but the rests for the bar prevent a simple linkage from just pushing the bar up. I might find a workaround later.
