TECHNIC MINI DUO CONTEST - DISCUSSION TOPIC

Because two are better than one.

DESCRIPTION
Build a Technic Duo MOC with two separate MOCs, each weighing no more than 300 grams. The two MOCs should be two separate models and not a car and a trailer. The two MOCs do need to match thematically, but should be considered two separate MOCs which you could/would buy as a separate set.

VOTING CRITERIA
Voting will be 100% public voting, but the votes will be cast on an external website and won't be visible during the voting period. The voting criteria are (in no particular order):

• Duo theme
• Standalone models
• Quality of the build
• Functionality
• Originality
• Looks (shape, color scheme, etc)

DEADLINE
Deadline date is February 9th, 2026. Contest will be closed on Tuesday the 10th OR LATER. 

Disclaimer: I will close the contest when I see fit and when I have the time to process the results. This can be later than the deadline date. Please don't complain about this not being fair and all.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
The following section describes the contest specific and general rules and regulations. But before that, please take notice of a simple motto regarding the Eurobricks Contests:

CONTESTS ARE FOR FUN!

Of course there's competition, but at the end of the day, LEGO is just a hobby and the main goal for each of us is to have fun!

CONTEST SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS

• The entry needs to have a name.
• The entry needs to be studless.
• Some studded System parts are okay, but model team is not permitted.
• Pullback Motor is permitted.
• Pneumatics are permitted.
• Cutting pneumatic hoses is permitted.
• 3rd party strings, hoses and rubber bands are permitted.
• LEDs are permitted.
• Electronics (PF elements, SBricks, Buwizz and Mindstorms) are permitted.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

• The contest is open to all EB members (also new members).
• Members who joined EB after the start of the contest can be banned from voting (when vote rigging is suspected).
• Voting rules will be explained later in the voting topic.
• One entry per member.
• Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously).
• Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry.
• If you have any doubts about the suitability of your entry contact me.
• All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed.
• No cutting, sculpting or modifying parts.
• Entries are to be placed in the entry topic in this forum.
• Entries not in the entry topic are not eligible for voting.
• The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish.
• The contest might be closed later than the deadline. Don't complain about this not being fair.
• You have enough time to build. Don't ask for more time.
• We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules.
• These rules can be changed whenever we see fit to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest.
• Staff members are not eligible for winning prizes.

WHAT DO I NEED TO ENTER?
All participants need to create a discussion topic and create a post in the entry topic.

DISCUSSION TOPIC

• A discussion topic starting with [TC30].
• A discussion topic needs to show some actual progress (i.e. pictures of the build in progress) and should not be used to "reserve an idea".

ENTRY POST

The entry post in the entry topic should contain:

• Entry name
• Short summary of the functions.
• One or more pictures (max 4).  You can have combined pictures (4 in 1) as long as the picture isn't bigger than 1024x1024.
• At least one picture with the model on a scale showing the weight
• Embedded YouTube video (not mandatory)
• Link to the discussion topic

PRIZES

There will be no LEGO Set prizes. But you can obviously earn a medal.

Each model needs to weigh no more than 300 grams, so you better start thinking about ditching the electronics 

I have removed that rule entirely.

What I mean is a little buwizz RC car seems possible within 300g and I don't know if that's the kind of MOC you are expecting

Nope. Let's stick to LEGO parts (with the exceptions mentioned in the rules)

@Jim So what are we doing about this rules? we can say more clearly: Two different MOCs like two lego sets thematically related. Each must have functions separately.

About the gymnast and base it would fit if each have at least one function on its own. They could also be half an entry.

I don't know if this is a setting for making a comment or if it's just some Eurbricks back-end shenanigans, but I use dark mode for a reason and this sudden white background is very annoying in that regard.

A white line here and there I don't mind (like the disclaimer line is still white, but I think that's a good thing), just this massive white block was quite a jumpscare

Since I am already on the subject of dark mode shenanigans:

The added rule is practically invisible on dark mode  (selecting the text makes it readable obviously, but still).

The dark mode is experimental  

I will talk to @aFrInaTi0n about it. Maybe we can add some simple styles to turn black/bold text into white or gray as well.

Oh yeah, this shall be fixed.. Sorry for the inconveniences! Some elements are just coming to an eye if they are important to one. So may have been a thing I overlooked.

For the white lines on the dark theme: I do not dare to remove the option for @Jim for not being allowed to post HTML... If I would turn that away, the colored backgrounds of his posts would be gone.. He may not even be aware of it as he may be using the light theme

One question regarding the "no car and trailer"-rule: what about a tractor and a trailer that has a lot of function like a trailed potato harvester (ROPA Keiler, Grimme EVO 290, etc.)? I feel like it would be possible to view it as something you could buy as separate set (in an alternate timeline where Lego has a long running agriculture series with many tractors and attachments at the same scale), but could also be not quite enough to justify that since it absolutely needs a tractor and can't be used on its own.
