Elephant Knight Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) Ahoy me hearties, I come to you with me latest version of Captain Jack Sparrow Hector Barbosa Jack Sparrow's Pirate ship! I wanted to complete it before the pictures leaked, and I did, I just never got around to finishing the sails. I wasn't too happy with what I came up with at first, and really put off remaking them until I saw LEGO's new one. The sails not looking right are my biggest grip with 10365, and with a lot of ship MOCs (My own especially) Version 4 probably looks a lot like my version 3, and in some ways it is. But extending it 8 studs, or one hull section, meant I had to completely rebuild almost the entire ship. The cabin was actually changed on it's own before I extended the hulls, and I did that back when 10365 was first rumored to be coming. Another big thing I did was add dark brown molting to the hull, and I think it really looks sharp, help break up the solid black, and helps sell the look that the ship is burnt wood. Once again, there is no detailed interior, though the ability to put one there kinda exists. I just don't like doing interiors, ok? A comparison shot of my Black Pearl MOCs over the years: Let me know what you think! EKnight Edited September 4 by Elephant Knight Quote
Jack Sassy Posted September 3 Posted September 3 A splendid build! It would seem we be on some Black Pearl MOC marathon before the official set. I understand the frustrating notion of showcasing a MOC when an official set is on the horizon. Perhaps memory not be serving me correctly, but I be not familiar with yer other versions of this vessel. I do like the angles on her! Ye have used a great solution for the captain's cabin tilted windows and the patches of dark brown is certainly a good way to add additional details. Be the deck a mix of reddish brown and dark brown? Good job! Quote
Admiral Bejaune Posted September 3 Posted September 3 An excellent Black Pearl MOC! I really like the different colors thrown in to give it that worn look. And how did you accomplish the angled side gallery windows? The sails look nice, and it’s nice to see the correct number of guns! Great work! Quote
DonQuixote Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Looks great. The sails are better then Lego's version. The captains cabin looks like a mix between Lego BP and mocyourbricks BP. From all BP mocs I have seen aI still prefer Lego's design. But they really messed up with the flat sails. Quote

The deck is a mixture, though I am debating if I want to go all dark brown, like a recently posted MOC on the forum. 3 hours ago, Admiral Bejaune said: An excellent black pearl MOC! I'll give you a hint: It would never pass on an official set. 2 hours ago, DonQuixote said: Looks great. The sails are better then Lego's version. Others looked a lot more like Spanish galleons while this one is a lot more true to the original design. 14 hours ago, Elephant Knight said: The deck is a mixture, though I am debating if I want to go all dark brown Have ye considered a mixture of dark brown and brown? Nick6314 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Ahoy there matey! I would love to see Instructions for this beauty o' ship! Maybe on Rebrickable or somewhere else. I must admit, that I like more your Version than 2025 TLG one... Definitively on my top 3 POTC Black Pearl MOCs (not mines) Quote

It is currently a mixture of reddish brown and dark brown, mostly reddish brown. I would have to acquire more dark brown if I go that route. 20 hours ago, Nick6314 said: Ahoy there matey! NOD Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Excellent! What strikes me even more is the change in your construction. Your Black Pearl is a combination of professional model building and Lego playability. The progress is clearly visible. Compared to 10365 Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Ship, your ship is an improvement Quote

Franco Clarke Posted Sunday at 04:46 PM Posted Sunday at 04:46 PM Always fun seeing the progression of the design, it currently feels like a halfway house between the first and second sets, but with a much superior sail and rig. Amusing how the monkey has flesh hands. Quote
