Sorry Jim, but Bricksafe needs an account too and is not accepting new registrations since years now. Not even I have an account there. So it's not helping the user. Quote
idlemarvel Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I don't want to hijack this thread, but ref imgur now I know it is a UK only problem I found a free chrome extension that uses the duckduckgo proxy to display imgur hosted images seamlessly. There are similar extensions to other browsers like firefox. Bit easier than using VPN. Quote

R0Sch Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) I now see it's possible to use Brickshelf for image and file uploads again and even create new accounts. So I will use that more often again. Edited May 3 by R0Sch no support for CAD files upload any more, just images. :( Quote
COPERNICON Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) is it just me or does modern lego technic feel completely underwhelming? the last set i really cared for (at release) was 42129 zetros and i remember a quite some negative opinions about it.... i am also a big fan of pneumatics but after 42043 arocs (i bought the set 3 times, that is how much i cared) there doesnt seem to be anything new and also why do non-technic themes get more newer and cooler parts then technic? maybe i am out of touch but 2026 technic feels boring and finally (oh my god) there is NO REASON to buy 42242 U5023 (€120) unimog when you can be 8110 U404 for €120-200! Edited May 3 by COPERNICON more info Quote
COPERNICON Posted May 3 Posted May 3 complaining continues until morale improves.... besides, i dont think i am that wrong anyway Quote

With this logic you should only buy instructions for alternative build unimogs and buy the original set to build it:). There are reasons. Like old grandpa or mom will normally go to physical stores and buy there gifts for their grand childrens. So those peoples normally don't hunt online flea markets to find ancient toy relics and while i loved the og unimog when i was a little kid. I like the new one too. But also i think most kids also go physical stores to see new stuff and buy from there. So they probably won't also buy used 8110. Plus the 8110 is retired so the stocks are limited for that one:). Plus the 8110 has its own issues. The steering is really really stiff and hard to operate i hope the newer one will fix this:). So yes, there are reasons why you should buy the new one. But if you aren't a fan for the new one. Then you probably will buy the 8110 or the dozen alternatives. Or you weren't the right customer for the 42242. Yes, i think there is a market for the 42242 and while it has flaws so does the 8110 and the 8110 is over 10 years old and you might run into issues like pneumatics not working if you buy cheap used 8110. With the new model you are quaranteed that it will work out of the box and if something won't work you probably will get free replacement parts if you ask lego. For the 8110 you are left in the dark. Or you have to do expensive bricklink purchase/order if something wont work:). Sorry for long post:). Quote

Paul B Technic Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I have now had a good look at all the new sets, from my reading, only 42242 really appeals to me. I am thinking I will get two copies, one for the A model, one to MOD. I would love to see more sets like this, maybe 1H 2027 ;) Quote

We didn't even have anything Volvo-related this year. (Volvo sets make any Technic wave 100% cooler; it's a fact, look it up) Quote
