robtogg Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Hi All, I wanted to add a city wall to TS, for my modular town. As I have mod'ed and built castles to be tourist attractions in my town themed as 'Brickish Heritage' I had the idea of repurposing the modular GWP removal truck as a lorry for the Black Falcon Re-enactment Society and while looking for inspiration, I came across and borrowed 'Harris Bricks' beautiful banner artwork for the side of the truck. Then I spotted Monty Matte's brilliant tutorial for an archway and combined that with ideas from Harris Bricks door tutorial and BrickCastleFan's medieval wall design. Can't wait to turn them into real bricks now! Thanks for getting this far and a huge thank you to all of the talented community who fire my inspiration and give me a place to come where I know i'll get an answer. Rob Quote
Feuer Zug Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Good looking addition. It really makes it appear to be part of the old medieval city, butting up against the wall. Quote
jus1973 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 That’s a really fab addition, and so much better than my attempt to create an historic quarter to my town. I have purchased the Lion Knights Castle, with the hope of tying it into the town, but have epically failed. You, however, have provided some excellent ideas as how it might be done. You should be rightfully proud of this model. Quote
robtogg Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 Thank you both for your kind words. I rely on others for techniques and ideas, so can't take the credit. @jus1973 I too am working on a medieval visitor attraction. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Fantastic addition, perfectly integrated with the architectural style! Quote
GeoBrick Posted May 16 Posted May 16 That rampart section is nicely integrated with the modular. Quote
Hrafn Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Given that the Tudor Corner explicitly references the old Guarded Inn (6067), this completes the cycle beautifully. Quote

I'm sure I could fir a statue and a fish and chip shop in there somewhere! Thank you all for your kind comments, i'm really starting to fall in love with mod'ing and designing my own sets and this has given me lots of encouragement! Quote

You might want to check the Bricklink prices. $100 and up for a complete set with 232 pieces. I have it (disassembled) somewhere and remember it fondly but compared to modern sets it is pretty rudimentary. Quote

Sorry, I'm a dummy and totally made it sound like I was talking about Guarded Inn, but I was talking about Tudor Corner. I do have the Guarded Inn set though! (The Legends version.) Quote
robtogg Posted May 22 Author Posted May 22 A bit of progress (Remodelled the far wall), added detail (Blue plaque) and showing it without the modular build. Thanks for looking! Quote
antp Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Really good idea, well done, indeed it is a good complement to the set :) Quote
LL1982 Posted June 4 Posted June 4 That is a nice idea to create a backdrop for the tudor. It nicely fits the image. Like how you made the acces to the top floor like this. Quote
