Hello everyone!

This is Samurai Castle my new project for LEGO Ideas! A modular Japanese castle with a full interior and 8 minifigures.

The build is a tribute to Ninja, the classic Castle sub-theme for 1998 and 1999. One of my favorite themes from when I was a kid. The build takes a lot of inspiration from set 6093 Flying Ninja Fortress and features multiple references to the set.

I would love to see a more '"realistic" samurai/ninja set from LEGO, similar to LEGO Ideas Viking Village.

Let me know what you think!

If you like the model, you can support it on LEGO Ideas: LEGO IDEAS - Samurai Castle

Thank you!

What a beautiful set (just supported). :steve:
The details are meticulous and numerous: the cart with wooden wheels, the vendor with the daikon, the stone columns, the bamboo canes, the trees, the mannequin for the samurai training, the perfect architecture.:wub:

I especially like the windows on the main floor (did you use fences for those?)
It would be nice if it became an official set! :pir-huzzah2:

Wow, so cool! That's a really beautiful build with plenty of details, but still playful and "simple" enough to feel like a true LEGO set comparable to the Viking Village or something from Ninjago. I like the modularity of it and the furnishing of all the rooms.

Great work all around!

Ooh, this is so good!  The aesthetics are beautiful and there are a bunch of lovely details, with the fence windows and the triangle peaked gables being my favorite bits!  And all while keeping that perfect balance where it's both an elegant MOC and a set remake at the same time - lovely stuff mate!

I found you project on LEGO Ideas and supported it instantly. This looks awesome.

And I think you are on a good way to reach 10k. This would be a great real set.

Hope 8k more people will see it the same way and support you.

I lost my password to EB and I had some trouble resetting it :pir-blush: That's why I haven't responded to all your messages until now...

Love this tribute to one of my favorite themes from when I was growing up.

I absolutely loved the minifigs and all the cool parts like the fish statues and the printed slopes!

Just reached 5K yesterday! Really happy with all the support so far.

Thank you! I wanted this model to have the classic LEGO building experience, while keeping things fresh and interesting. There's a lot references to Ninja and small easter eggs in there too!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I've indeed used fences for the windows. They really give the classic Japanese vibes and the top of the fences can slide into a brick without friction/stress.

Thank you very much! I really want a more "realistic" ninja/samurai set, so I figured I should build it myself ;)

The whole building-blocks hobby is missing something like this. Not even LEGO's growing competitors have a Samurai/Japanese castle playset. LEGO has Ninjago, but comes nowhere near to filling the void that your Ideas submission would fill. I think your set NEEDS to be selected. I hope it gets selected. I would definitely buy.

EDIT: How many pieces is it?

I love this! As a shinnichi, I love everything about Japan, such as architecture, art, history, food. This does grave me a classic Japanese vibe, which it’s awesome! Great job! I am not sure if I missed it on Ideas?

Looks good but I just prefer European castles over Japanese ones.

Is it really necessary to say “I prefer European castles over Japanese ones” to this creator’s personal / Ideas project?

I don't see the problem. Some Europeans prefer katanas over Zweihänders (double handed longsword)

It's just a matter of taste.

Like Brick Monarchs castle from BDP. It's a Korean designer who prefers European castles over Korean ones.

I prefer Buddhist Temples over European churches and I am an atheïst.

Nothing wrong with saying your preferences.

Sure but if you have your own MOC/Ideas submission (castle), I would say “I prefer American forts over European ones”.  I feel it’s rude for you to say that to the creator’s face here as they read it here. If you think it’s nothing wrong, whatever you say….

@bountybossk, keep your work up! :)

Well I don't think it's rude at all. It's a good design yes I have to admit. But this is also a castle /historic part of the forum.

And I think there is nothing wrong to say that I prefer European castles over Japanese ones. With that statement I was not criticizing his moc but it is about real life castles.

Designers on BDP ask for feedback and I am always being honest.

But if you think that what I said is offensive or rude , okay. That's your opinion and I respect that.

@DonQuixote @Lion King Don't fight guys, it's all good! :pir-huzzah2: I appreciate all the feedback I get and people taking the time to comment. Samurai Castle is currently in review. So let's hope for the best!

Ps. I have a brand new model for BDP Series 9. You can check it out here!

Ahhh i didn’t realize your submission reached 10K already as I was about to find it so I could throw my support there. But that’s great that it’s in review. My fingers crooked for you. :)
