For a long time I've wanted to do something more fun and extravagant for my Emerald Night locomotive. I still wanted to keep the color scheme of the original passenger car. The choice appeared rather obvious with those criterias: British Pullman it is! Before starting the designprocess I made a decision regarding price. I must be able to complete a passager car for less than €90. This as I really do want to have at least two of them behind the Emerald night. This means a few details have been accomplished using stickers rather than brickbuilding, something I don't really mind. Furthermore the interior is empty as the plan is to add this with existing pieces from my collection.

I couldn't help myself, I had to do a render with the entire train set. Notice the new connecting rods from the Orient Express.

Very nice wagons, beautiful, elegant color scheme and great built.

You'll have to help with the Emerald locomotive though: it looks too small in height compared to the wagons.

I've noticed this too, the downside of digital building. Currently working on a updated version of the coaches.

Thanks!

I would prefer you will update the locomotive ;-)

The coaches are fine....

Everything looks a little out because it's an 8wide coach on a 6wide train.

One has to grow, or one has to shrink.

Lovely carriage design though. I used to watch 35028 Clan Line pulling the Pullman coaches through Clapham Junction first thing in the morning after it had left Victoria.

I think you too might be onto something. I lowered the coaches by 2 plates and raised the tender by one plate. It all lines up nicely now but the proportions of the coaches feel a bit of. Maybe those extra blak XL-drivers I have laying around should finally see some use with a beefed up Emerald night.

Beefing up? Yep, that would be nice to see.

Emerald Night beefing up, my tips "I'm NOT one of those pro builders here":

Keep the boiler as it is, maybe, maybe add length to the smokebox?

Widen the cab. + widen the tender. Does it need more length?

XL drives? Those might fit quite nicely. How big drives would fit to it?

Sort of modding it to look more like the, original?  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Peppercorn_Class_A1_60163_Tornado

At first sight I thought it was a metal carriage from some rolling stock manufacturer ...impressive work, wonderful result!

I couldn't resist giving it a quick shot. Nothing finalized but its a MOC-up of what a Emerald Night locomotive could look like using XL-drivers while maintaining the original Pullman coach height.

Nice! Now just widen that cab and perfect :)

So it shall be done. Now the entire locomotive + tender is done in 8-wide .
