Flying Lesson was cheaper in price per piece and price per gram than the Owlrey with more mini-figures per dollar. The 2024 Great Hall was also cheaper price per gram and price per piece than the 2021 Great Hall. Lego pricing is a lot more complex than critics like to admit.

The Owlery had five owls, though, which must be pricey given how stingy LEGO is with them (the Owl Post Office with WWW had only two, one of which was the shop sign, and the Owl Post Office with UCS Hogsmeade had none at all unless you count Hedwig). And larger sets having better PPP ratios than smaller ones should be the norm, not a laudable exception.

Anyway I just tried to find a comparable set from the new modular system for the Hospital Wing, and like I've said the Flying Lesson seems to fit the bill.

Having just built some of the One Piece sets, I‘m now wondering whether the portraits will continue to appear in the 1HY sets at least. I‘m still missing two of them, and resorting to Bricklink isn‘t fun  The chocolate frog cards ended after two years, so it‘s not super likely, but it‘d be a nice thing to continue since it‘s still the same castle system and unlike the cards, the portraits are actually incorporated into the builds!

The other System was 20 years of Hogwarts, so with this one there is just not reason for it to end earlier, would actually bet it will stay around.

I'd expect them to continue because they are also an easy way to decorate hallways and dungeons in otherwise boring parts of sets.

If by some miracle I don't have all of them when they stop releasing them, I have already decided to email Lego customer service and ask for my missing ones. So far I have collected each set that contains them so I think it is fair to expect to get a full set in that scenario.

They are all thrown together though, so not sure if they would even send you a certain piece or rather just a random one if there would be any complaints.

Doesn't matter much since the stickers at least are exclusive.

Since I don't collect the new Hogwarts system I don't care either way. But I do wonder who this is meant for. The new Hogwarts sets all aren't exclusive or even part-exclusive except for the Flying Lesson (which doesn’t make the spending limit) so it would be unprofitable to buy them for the GWP, and people who buy other sets (such as DA which goes EOL this year) might not have much use for it. Is LEGO trying to encouage resellers?

Resellers would have the same Problem as the normal costumer, though - and honestly, the threshold is still priced pretty fair, so given there are also supposed to be discounts, along with the insiders points and the gwps I don´t think buying from Lego is actually a bad deal - problem could be of course, when you already got all the sets.

True, but I was meaning for me personally as a predominantly minifigure collector. I'm not collecting the new Hogwarts as tempting as the Main Tower has been, so the GWP only held value for me in the minifigure it included, so now I don't have to make a purchase.

Out of interest, what does everybody think of the Hogsmeade sign?

For me it holds no value, as it is neither traditional Lego bricks nor does it look like anything particular, so in one way it seems like a very lame GWP for such a big purchase. On the other hand, I am grateful that Hogsmeade does not come with an exclusive and desirable set which makes me either need to purchase it or buy on the secondhand market. From other comments I've seen, other people too just think it will be good to sell it on and effectively get some money off Hogsmeade, so I'm not sure who the sign is really marketed at. I'm guessing it's just a chase exclusivity thing or a very small market of those who like Lego trinkets?

I think it is good that people get something exclusive but not really something that people would really "need", so you can buy smaller sets instead to just get the polybag and the Room of Requirements GWP and buy Hogsmeade later on with discounts

Hey all!

Since we’re all pondering what new sets could be in store for the future, and since LEGO does appear to be listening to our requests in some regard (Lovegood House, Malfoy Manor, a better Hagrid’s Motorbike set, Dobby’s Sock, etc.), I’m just curious what sets you all might like to see in the future! Despite some remakes, I feel there is still definitely some room for new sets or some improvement for older ones!

Great list! I’ve borrowed it and developed it into my own list:

  • DH advent calendar with DH Ron, Luna from the wedding etc
  • DH wedding tent with Bill, Fleur, Death Eater, and an outstanding Mr Lovegood figure in his gold suit.
  • HBP Astronomy Tower: Slughorn Potions Class in the basement, his office at ground level and Astronomy classroom above etc.
  • OotP Battle of the Department of Mysteries / Hall of Prophecies (death Eater battle pack, at least 2 for £20). Build is the moving door, shelves of prophecies etc.
  • OotP Hogwarts castle section with the following rooms: 1 Room of Requirement with Cho & Neville, 2 Umbridge’s office with a new Umbridge, 3 exam hall with fireworks, Fred & George, Harry etc.
  • OotP advent calendar which is mixed between G.Place and the RoR: draws are a new recolour of one of the dog moulds for Ron’s pratronus, and missing member Doge (he was in the background of the Privit Drive broomstick scene), and a repeat Death Eater.
  • GoF First Task Remake: ~£125: four dragons built to the same size and standard as the Gringotts Dragon + a bit of arena (see 76088), four champions, 3 head teachers + Rita (new variant)
  • PoA Lupin’s Boggart Class module as is own classroom module set
  • CoS Lockheart’s Pixie class as its own classroom module set, includes dragon skeleton.
  • Divination classroom as its own classroom module
  • Prefect bathroom as a small (Charms class) size module, with shirtless Harry & Myrtle, golden egg, maybe some extra creative liberties such as gold statue of a merperson.
  • CoS Slytherin Common Room in a large Hogwarts section, perhaps merged with Myrtle’s toilet and the COS proper.
  • PS/SS Unicorn in the Forbidden Forest: with Fang again and a new Hagrid version.
  • PS/SS House Points Hourglasses should hopefully be in the new Sorting ceremony set, if not then in a future advent calendar (split over 2 or 4 gifts).

Would this threat also be the right place to discuss modifications for the current castle system?

I have to say I really dislike the Gryffindor common room in the main tower after mocing the hufflepuff one conpletely. I wound a way to include the background pictures from the older house banner sets in modular common rooms, which is incompaticle with havind the Common room in the second floor next to the Main tower... I thought about removing Fluffy, but I like him being placed above the devils snare... it would be cool to work with others on possible modifications. I already made a bunch of improvements on the great hall.

I think so. I'm waiting till the modular wave is done to really start modifying anything to know what I want to add that wasn't included Like Mic Mac Padwac on Rebrickable has some great additions for the COS and Polyjuice Bathroom, but I am waiting to see if Lego does those scenes themselves.

One modification I do plan to make soon is how to better connect the Great Hall and Main Tower. I don't like the gap between the buildings and want to figure out some basic wall to connect the two.
