I´m afraid I can´t follow you. What set are you referring to with the stud shooters?

Expand

The Quidditch Match set from when the theme rebooted back in 2018 featured a stud shooter and black studs for the bludgers. Likewise, the First Flying Lesson set from 2021, the Quidditch Trunk, and even the just released Flying Lessons set also represented the bludgers with studs. So it’s interesting that the polybag switches to a round 1x1 tile.

Ok, 2018 is further back than I would have expected for the comparism, you are right, they used stud shooters there. However the Flying lesson Sets both have no Stud shooter included, though yeah they use Studs. Especially compared with this years Set it is kinda Strange since that and the Polybag are from the same wave - and they don´t even have the same colours. Then again, I think they choose studs for the flying lesson Set because they are easier to remove from the build than a tile would be. And they also look more like a ball. Why they choose a tile for the polybag instead of a stud, no idea though.

The Quidditch Trunk however used 2x2 Tiles ;).

So the polybag is an extension from the scene where Oliver teaches Harry quidditch, from where we got Oliver already in the flying lesson set. That said, LEGO thinks these jackets are the same colors then:

I think it is obvious they don´t, but didn´t want to make a new part for it. And honestly, I wouldn´t like a dark blue torso more than the black one, so the only good thing about it would be that it is not the same as in the Flying lessons Set.

I don't think they think they are the same. They just don't want to create another torso only for a polybag.

Even though it could be easily used for other sets in nearly all themes.

But its not like a very specific torso. Is there not like an excisting dark blue one in production right now?

No, nothing that would come close to this.

Well since they are assembled with hands, not really, all unlicensed IPs would be out already, which makes it a lot more difficult IMO.

Thats what I meant. As it is a really generic torso, it could have been included in another set.

On is own, it isn't a bad choise, but the scene represented in this polybag is meant to combine with Oliver Wood from the flying lesson, and when you do that, its obvious that they weir the same torso in the lego scene but not in the actual movie scene.

As someone who read the books but only sporadically watched the movies, the polybag is hilarious to me - Seeker Harry has a beater's bat but no broom, WTF? Still, two minfigs and parts like the snitch make it better value for money than the previous ones. The Marvel polybag this year also has two figs, I don't think licenced themes used to do that (though City and Ninjago did), which is a welcome change.

He has a Beater's bat because this is the scene in the movie where Wood takes Harry out onto a lawn at Hogwarts and shows him the different Quidditch balls. Before releasing a Bludger, Wood hands Harry a Beater's bat and when the Bludger comes racing towards them, Harry hits it and manages to make it fly straight through the middle of a statue's crossed swords. In this scene, Harry doesn't have a broomstick. So the polybag is accurate to the movie depiction, apart from the fact that the statue should be high on a castle parapet and Harry should be wearing a blue jumper and not a black one that is exactly the same as Wood's.

Don´t know, for me it isn´t something that contradicts the books. As in the films the first thing Wood teaches Harry is about the tasks of the players and what each of the balls do - including the practical lesson with the beater.

Aside from the Statue the scene is the same in the books.

Well new year, new chance I guess, though not sure which scene they would choose for him. In the end they could have choosen the forbidden forest polyback this year to include him - though I would prefer a polybag without any of the trio honestly, we are getting enough of them anyways.

Honestly I kind of like the polybag 🤷‍♂️

I mean it’s a little weird they didn’t include a broom, but they did already do a quidditch bag already like 2 years ago with Cho. Think it’s cool they recycled the quidditch theme but at least made it unique and stand out in its own way

Yes, I know. I meant it's weird for me because that's not how I'd have depicted the scene based on the book at all. Most of the time the disconnect isn't so great.

And on a practical level, this polybag seems considerably less useful than the Cho one which allowed you to army-build an entire Ravenclaw team with uniforms and brooms (and you got snitches to spare, too) whereas here you don't even get a Gryffindor uniform torso and no brooms, either. Sure, you'll have beater's bats, snitches, and quaffles, as well as enough statues to populate your castle, but it's a weird choice nonetheless.

German YouTuber Brickstory has a video up where he walks us through the latest LEGO catalogue. The HP section includes all the known January and March sets except for the Flying Lesson. Is that one going to be exclusive or part exclusive (with one retail partner), then?

In the UK it seems to be a Lego and Amazon thing at the moment.

Same here, and usually they have the same Set exclusive in all countrys. What surprises me though, is that Amazon already has it, and Lego doesn´t sell them exclusive for 3 Months before an other retailer gets them, like they did in the past.

In [eu] we have lots of cheap "book+minifigure" on amazon. They usually go for 4-8 eur. And you can get multiples of those to get los of HP-related pieces and robes. I usually see these books as the new "characters and accessory packs" of these days.

We still have a 4eur book witht the best Lucius Malfoy (prints all over him including legs) that outshines the Manor and Burkes Lucius.

Check amazon by writing "lego minifigure book harry potter" - maybe you will find some cheap options, combining which, you will get a "multipack" price by buying several Nevilles (also comes with herbology book and other stuff) or something like that

Huh, Amazon Germany sells it at list price, too. Which - this set would already have been overpriced with the usual discounts factored in, but without them? No, thanks.

Do you think that it's going to be the only (part) exclusive module of the new Hogwarts?

There will be discounts, but usually they don´t make them as big as with other sets, because there is no competition around.

Well we can expect three more waves for this Lineup, so I would say the chances aren´t that bad that it happens and we also had Hogwarts Modules as exclusive Sets in the past too.

Do you guys k ow special printed elements to upgrade the new sets? I have to say the old heads for Lucius and Bellatrix improve the new figures extremely.

I'm sure it will come down a bit at some point on Amazon which is more than I guess will happen for Lego unless it does come down in one of their random sales, but they are so unpredictable. I'd say for this year it will be the only Castle module exclusive, but over the entire life of this new castle line perhaps not. That being said, Lego seems to have a thing for making castle flying lesson modules exclusives. :shrug_oh_well:

We will see how big the discounts are. If they just go 20% off, Lego with GWP might still be an option, especially for Back to Hogwards if you don´t want to have the exclusive Set. Speaking about it, kinda strange there was not the slightest rumour about it and yet we already have leaks for Black Friday. Then again, I guess the Black Friday one was very early this year.
