See I think the main disagreement with the new modular wave is the cost, not the detail/minifigs/scope and your comments seem to agree with that. The last 2 waves were affordable to collect the entire wave, this wave is clearly stretching even the most diehard/wealthy fans pockets. That is a fair complaint.

If they made the interiors more detailed it would only increase the prices further.

On the other hand if they didn't waste a lot of parts with the slide-out drawers they could probably afford a less crappy-looking ceiling.

To me the problem isn't just the high prices, it's the "bigger=better" mentality. I don't need a "beefier" model, I don't have unlimited space anyway. Sure, here you get a lot of empty space (which you then have to fill with additional sets) but I'd rather have something more intricate and detailed like, again, a modular building. Here you're paying modular prices for an unfinished-looking set full of deliberately inferior placeholders, but hey, it's big!

Do we have any photos of all the sections of castle together, including the boathouse and flying lesson?

I’ve got to say as well as much as I like the private drive it seems smaller upstairs.

Also what’s your opinions of the next UCS/D2C set been a large scale Grimmauld Place?

Do you mean for 2026? Hogsmeade is this year.

I would appreciate a new Grimmauld Place so I can stop thinking about buying the old playset, but not sure it is iconic/featured in the films enough.

You can see them here in Tiago Caterino's newest review at 7.15:

For those who wanted a full review of 4 Privet Drive, Ashnflash has a review out now.

Unlikely IMO. It's too dark and dreary for mass appeal, and its most noteworthy feature has already been done very well with the playset - what else is left?

But isn’t that the point? To create a minifigfriendly version (thus big) of Hogwarts? A minifig version and the right buildings on the right places can only mean that it’s going to be big. And sure it may not  have the same standards as modulars, but you can always make interiors the way you like.

If I pay modular prices (or well above really with all the add-ons) I expect modular standards, not a fixer-upper.

I merely replied to @Virginia_Bricks that IMO it's not just the high prices, it's also the discrepancy between price and design that puts people off. Look at the picture above of how the big sets connect and tell me this looks well-designed.

Or the sky in the great hall or any of the switchable rooms included in the buildings.

Its Lego's most expensive playset by $40 USD or ~20% (defining playset as a non-18+ set and sold in retail stores) which creates mixed expectations. Some want D2C level detail and others want play set play ability.

Tiago's review compared it briefly to the Burrow, which in the US is the same price, and that makes it easier to see the difference. The Main Tower is substantially taller and and the same width when opening the Burrow, but is missing the level of detail shown in the Burrow. I don't expect Lego to make another $250+ playset during this modular wave or even longer than that, but thankful they did at least one.

The more I look at it, the more I love the the Main Tower set, and the more I really love the new Hogwarts system. Yes it’s expensive. But at this point what we really needed was a bigger and more detailed system for more serious collectors. I really hope they continue it for several years and give us more of Hogwarts than we’ve gotten before

I’d love to at least see the Clocktower and Astronomy Tower, but we need the viaduct entrance and viaduct, it would be great to finally see the Quad, and I’d love some version of the Long Gallery and Bell Towers before this system ends

Just finished it like 10 minutes ago, and it’s stunning! I had to put it next to the Burrow since it didn’t fit where I initially wanted to put it, and it kinda makes that set look small in comparison :snicker:

What’s less stunning is that I’m still missing two of the portraits  I thought I might get lucky, and instead I was greeted by two Helgas and two Basils, both of which I already had! I know I could easily order the missing ones, but I want to see if I can complete the set without resorting to that. Hopefully we’ll still get more next year!

So I'm bored waiting for a good GWP or 2x VIP event to buy the main tower and deciding to speculate on the Hogsmeade mini-figure list.

Besides the Burrow, all D2C mini-fig scale sets have focused on multiple movies. DA (PS and COS), Gringotts (PS and DH), Hogwarts Express (POA, HBP, and DH). So I see it likely they follow suit and that likely means POA and HBP. I'm also assuming 14 mini-figures.

- Mr and Mrs. Flume because they have to include Honeydukes (2)

- Golden trio from POA that includes Harry's invisibility cloak (3)

- Madam Rosmerta from POA (1)

- McGonagall from POA (1)

- Minister of Magic from POA (1)

- Golden trio from HBP (3)

- Slughorn from HBP (1)

- Dean and Ginny from the Hogs Head Scene (2)

- Katie Bell and Draco from HBP if they go to 16 mini-figures

- And maybe an Aberforth/Hog's Head GWP since otherwise I don't see any major scenes worth recreating from DH

Is there any information about BrickHeadz or Encyclopedia with exclusive minifigure as Rita, please?

There won’t be a new book this year since it’s too soon for another encyclopedia again  The Brickheadz set will have 5 figures based on GoF, but that’s all we know at the moment. Probably the four champions plus Rita, Karkaroff, or Madame Maxime.

Thank you very much!

Can anyone tell me the depth of the Hogwarts Main Tower and Great Hall when combined?

About 44 centimeters if I measured correctly. If you want to add the boathouse to the great hall, you Will need 56 centimeters of Shelf space.

I would bet good money Katie Bell is included. They made a brand new torso for her in the new Quality Quidditch Supplies set that matches what she’s wearing in the Hogsmeade scene perfectly

yo if they drop another Hogwarts remake i’m gonna build a castle tall enough to reach gringotts. just give us something weird this time—like a forbidden forest chaos set or a peeves minifig already.

Is anyone else dissapointed that the main tower is built basically in modular cubes like the 2021 line? I hate that line so much! I love building these large models from the ground up and seeing it come together. Something like Avengers tower which was just built from the ground up was awesome. Hate building these little cubes and then just combining them together. Just doesn't feel satisfying! Was so excited about this set until I came across this detail.

Maybe someone who already has it might be able to convince me it's not as bad as the 2021 line?

I'm not even buying this latest iteration and can say it looks way better than the 2021-2023 line to me (which I do have and no longer display in favour of 2018-2020).

Being a sectional castle wasn't the main thing that made the 2021 line ugly, but rather that they leaned so heavily at first into the rectangular aesthetic (until they didn't later on, but with sets that still didn't cohesively go together).

This castle section might be composed of sections, but that's a justifiable build method for a line that (despite its price) still focuses on a healthy balance of detail and build-ability for a younger/family audience than large D2Cs. The 2024 line's thing is about being huge, not about being complex, and looks heaps better than 2021.

The modularity is done completely different than the 2021 line. There it was done so you could swap facade sections in and out and create a unique custom facade. In the 2024 line it is done primarily to make sets easier to build for young audiences and in groups. Its not like in the final result that the Great Hall piece is going to go anywhere but where it is already and the same for each portion of the Main Tower. The only swappable parts are the slide in and slide out scenes.
