Andyperkins Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) As soon as that teaser started to pop up last week I knew it had to be for the Enterprise as an early November reveal and a Black Friday launch would mirror that of the Endurance last year. I will be at my local store bright and early on the 26th to pickup mine, back in the 90's my brother and I would build starships out of blocks (he actually made a pretty good Excelsior once) so its been along time dream for an official Lego Star Trek set and here were are less than a month away from it being on my shelf :) Edited November 5 by Andyperkins Quote
RichardGoring Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Tiago Catarino has a designer interview video with the model. I think it looks great in realistic settings and the choice of lighting on the box art overly accentuates the octagonal shape. The phaser array still looks rough. The way the designer moves it around suggests that it's very stable, which is impressive. I'm really looking forward to getting this! Quote

(1)Stein Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Another review! Have to admit the set looks great and the Minifigures are AMAZING! Edited November 6 by (1)Stein Quote

(1)Stein Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Link to the Shuttle! That Lego is finally getting into Star Trek is a long time wish, finally come true! Now it should get a dedicated forum just like Star Wars! 😜 By the way the shuttle has a printed tile with a Romulan Warbird on it! Hint at the next set? 🤔 Edited November 6 by (1)Stein Quote
CF Mitch Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Oh man, definitely gonna buy this set! The Enterprise looks great after all, but the minifigs are definitely the highlight for me! Those accessories are absolutely brilliant What's Worf holding, though? Is that a phaser? Regards, Mitch Quote
HawkLord Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Really great set,I just wish Troi and Wesley came with uniformed torsos/legs. I'm a little bummed it comes out Black Friday in the US - I might have to order it online instead of go to the Lego store at the mall. Quote

(1)Stein Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Now if I can just find where I put my Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan? 🤪 Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Awesome set! Though I still have no clue how the connection between the saucer section and the rest is supposed to be stable! Quote

Geihlen Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I have waited basically my entire life for something like this to be a reality and the wait seems to be worth it. I think the model is really stunning and I'm impressed by how much they got right. Doubly so since I think I read this has no new elements outside the hair pieces for Guinan and Worf. Quote
MKJoshA Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Wow. This really lives up to all my exceptions. The fact that the designers are huge Trek fans has really come out through the set. I had no idea the windows were prints. I thought it was wedge plate gaps. The end result still looks really good. Quote

Or you could buy the set and sell on the ship if you only want the figures. Quote
icm Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Yes, but the resellers will charge a hundred bucks for the gwp and twenty or thirty bucks for each minifig. Quote

So if you want to combat this, then buy the set on day 1 yourself and keep the bits you want and sell the rest for what you consider a fair price. Quote

I get Troi's outfit somewhat, but I never understood why Wesley's sweater is so iconic/popular. 15 hours ago, (1)Stein said: Type II Phaser Oh right, of course, thanks! Regards, Mitch Quote
MAB Posted November 7 Posted November 7 It is so funny that they made a mistake with the show's catchphrase. Quote
RichardGoring Posted November 7 Posted November 7 1 hour ago, MAB said: It is so funny that they made a mistake with the show's catchphrase. It's extremely frustrating. I might have to start saying legos instead of LEGO just to irritate them back. It's not even a word. Just a basic spell check is all they needed. Or for someone to read it. What a shame. I wonder if they'll do a sticker reprint? Quote

Hint at the next set? 🤔 People were complaining about how hexagonal the disc is. In this view, the outline seems perfectly oval? I think the direction of the studs do not help. The edges of the plates also give it a hexagonal feel. Finally, perhaps some more detailing on the top surface would help distract from the limitations mentioned earlier. Quote

Finally, perhaps some more detailing on the top surface would help distract from the limitations mentioned earlier. The top side looks far better as there is more going on which distracts from the hexagon, but crucially, the hexagon itself is broken up by having one stud differences on the plate positions, so you don't really notice it. I considered whether this would help the underside too. Mostly though, the very harsh/angled lighting they've used on the box art really accentuates the hexagonal plates. But in the real world videos, in natural lighting conditions, it's far less obvious, so hopefully it won't be a problem. Quote
hikouki Posted November 10 Posted November 10 For all other fans out there, which other minifig/s would you wish they made? For me, it would have to be O'Brien, Q, and perhaps a Borg. Quote
