Ceir Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Have to say, I'm glad the TOS bridge set exists, but I'm just not feeling it for my own collection. I already have a brick-built TOS bridge, and transporter room, and a wall panel, from Megablox's offerings several years ago; granted, it's the larger, greeblier MB style, but it's not something I feel a need to double up on. I'd've been all over a TNG bridge though. Keep a couple of the cast minifigs exclusive to the E-D set, maybe do a variant like red-uniform season 1 Geordi...that, that would have been up my alley. I'd be down for mid-scale ships if they can do them reasonably. I've always thought that Trek ships were difficult to do in brick-built form because they're mostly round things on sticks, but the number of pieces that can work with that style - at smaller scales than the Lego E-D or the Megablox TOS E - has been steadily increasing. There was a fans ite I remember many years ago that did pretty good small-scale models of quite a few, with pieces and techniques of the time, but darned if I can find it again. Quote
CF Mitch Posted July 29 Posted July 29 This looks like a really great set, I do have a few nitpicks about some of the minifigs Kirk does indeed seem more Chris Pine than Will Shatner. The bridge looks great, though I'm not too sure about the transporter room yet. I like how it's somewhat modular, at least the large piece with the Klingon face on it. Not too big a fan of the function to make chairs and/or consoles move like they're hit by something, but it's a nice feature in general. As is the 1701 piece count Regards, Mitch Quote

We’ve seen this before with licensed themes, and they’re as likely to do an ‘art’ piece or a buildable Star Trek logo as another ship. Hadn't really thought about that, but that could definitely be a possibility! A brick built Starfleet insignia or a mosaic set where you can make different ships would be cool. Quote
BitByBrick Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Appears to be no Trek specific GWP with the bridge set. No need to preorder, as I will wait for double points and/or a decent GWP. My wallet took a hit with x-files and other Lego purchases lately. Another reason to wait. Made a moc of TNG bridge to display the figs. I’ll be curious how this set displays next to it. I will, however, need to trim off the transporter room, set is too long, or build it and display it as a deck below the bridge somehow. Maybe make a medical bay or Spock’s room, or both. If anyone has ideas, I’m open to them. Quote

We usually know about GWPs well in advance, but at the latest you can always tell once a set hits s@h. If it can be pre-ordered, there won‘t be a GWP, since punishing pre-orders would be a very dumb decision The only exception were the Pokémon sets in February where the opposite happened and the GWP was tied to pre-orders specifically.
