Should we expect some sort of gwp or polybag to be released along with this set? (Not sure if TLG still does that)

Would've been nice. Even better if it also included Batsignal or Cassandra

Yes and no. While it would be great for TLG to make them, it would a shame for TLG to trap them in a GWP. Especially Signal, because while I like both of them (and actually prefer Cass) he is much harder to make with existing parts.

It’s weird to see myself get excited about seeing the full Rogues Gallery of Batman again… when DC is still a current, ongoing theme. It’s one thing for LotR fans to get excited about getting the full Fellowship in a set like Rivendell, since those fans have been without anything for so long. All these characters in the Arkham should’ve been released in the past three years.

I’d like to see a new Batman in Arkham, particularly in a comic grey. Obviously, the budget ought to prioritize the villains first, but I don’t believe the black and yellow movie Batman would fit in a comic-based set.

I expect to see characters like Catwoman in non-prisoner attire, actually. I’m ignorant of how Arkham works, but to my understanding Catwoman’s cowl is apart of her suit, so either she’d be without her cowl—at which point why call her Catwoman—or she is breaking into Arkham. (Correct me if I’m wrong on both accounts, though.)

Pleasantly surprised by a seemingly minifig-sized Killer Croc. Always preferred the look of the ‘06 Croc than the bigfig for myself, so this gives me hope we could see him in another set soon.

 

Speaking of which… I want Superman and Supergirl movie sets first and foremost, yes, but since LEGO and WB are adamant about “Only Batman sells,” I’d also love to see remakes of the ‘06-‘07 wave to commemorate 20 years of LEGO Batman/DC. They could use the new characters from the Arkham as launching points to bring back all the original characters as well.

I'm still assuming everyone is in a jumpsuit. Even though it was a less serious continuity (with this assumably just being generic comics), they have given the inmates their notable headwear before to distinguish them.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up being in the GWP, reusing the same face as TDK one but with the hair recolored to black.

I assume a prisoner transport would be included with the set itself, but knowing Lego, I could also see that being the GWP.

Hmm yeah now that you mention it: why would Catwoman be in Arkham at all

I dont recall seeing her there in any version of the character.

I'm hoping that the prisoner jumpsuits are androgynous and show no skin, so that the torso can be used to make more inmates. Hopefully they'll include one in the batman magazine at some point.

I wonder which robin it will be, probably Damian.

I don't think so. I do agree that a majority will potentially be in prisoner garb but I doubt it will be all of them. There costumes are what is iconic so I think some will be in Thier actual outfits, I know the TLBM one had everyone in the jumpsuits but it was released along side a wave of sets where they weren't in prison uniform.

Catwoman definitely shouldn't be, the times I can remember her being at Arkham (like in the video games) she wasn't an inmate.

Overall this sounds better than expected (at least it didn't turn into an oversized Batmobile like the bogus Batcave rumour) but still retreading old ground. I'm excited to see pictures.

It would be funny if they reused her Andor penguin from the returns set but put them with more comicy versions of everyone else.

So given this is on a baseplate what are peoples thoughts on us getting sets that connect together for example GCPD.  or do you think we’ll get more D2C sets as separate buildings, like Wayne Manor,

Hopefully they bring back her mask. The printed made sense for the last two versions since she needed the stitching and gray/black details, but the mask looks better overall.

I’d assume Lego would carry on with their yearly superhero modular building. My guess for next year would be the Baxter Building. I’m assuming some version of it will appear in Doomsday. This way they can tie into that movie. And, unlike this year, they could throw in Avengers and X-Men to get the minifigure count up to a decent amount. (The Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer is only 5, and that would be pitiful for a $300+ set).

As for DC, there’s a number of buildings they could do: Wayne Tower, GCPD, Iceburg Lounge, Wayne Manor, Star Labs, Flash Museum, Daily Planet, Lexcorp, and Hall of Justice. IMO, depending on how well Superman does, I could see the Daily Planet or Hall of Justice being our next DC modular as, with Marvel, Lego seems to try to avoid giving a character more than one modular at a time to avoid cannibalizing their own sales.

All the Villains leaked are all the villains from the 2006-2008 waves (missing two face), does this hint at a remake of the 2006 wave for the 20 year anniversary?
I'm sure most of them will be in next years sets to reuse the faces anyway...

Lego has already said they don’t celebrate anniversaries for the Superhero theme because they can’t decide whether to go with the 2012 official starting year of the theme, the 2006 start of Batman, or the 2002 FA of Lego Spider-Man in the Studios theme. Unless they changed their minds or are making an exception for Batman (either of which I guess is possible), I wouldn’t count on a 20th anniversary wave.

As far as a remake of the 2006 wave (or the 2012 wave which was itself a remake of the 2006 wave), I think it’s possible. Assuming Lego is looking to make more DC sets in the future to take advantage of the DCU, relaunching Lego Batman with comic sets seems like the natural place to start.

I’m glad the set has more than ten minifigures, though no new villains is a disappointment, especially if they’re using jumpsuits. I can appreciate that most of the villains included have not been available for years, so for someone who got into LEGO in the past few years, this will be most welcome, but still, one new villain couldn’t have hurt. Now let’s see how good the build is.
 

Hopefully this leads to a wave of at least Batman sets with these villains, which will then hopefully lead to more. We need a DC Rebirth™.

you would think at least 3 play sets that could tie into the D2C. dreaming big here, a cmf for next year lol

it's best that people firstly go out and buy the set if you want moee releases, unfortunately the there is alot of talk and no action to support the theme!

it seems like every other D2C set is, would love one but would not get my hopes up.

they can, but this needs to sell, unless they have a 3 year advanced planning stage for more D2C. would be nice to have a street dedicated to DC, Batman same as Marvel does.

What would a second DC CMF even look like at this point? Batman and his A-list villains and sidekicks?

Do we think Bane and maybe croc will be big figs or minifigure scale? Looking at the Thing I can see them both being minifigure scale which sucks for Bane

Almost definitely minifigs.

I'm not a fan of hulk style big figs so I'd prefer it this way anyway. ( The seperate head was an improvement but there is still a long way to go).

Just look at video game Mr. Incredible and compare him to the other minifigures. I believe this kind of Lego figure (if it existed in real life, save for Dogpound and Leatherhead) would've perfectly fitted not only Bane and Killer Croc, but also DCAU Batman and Superman

Probably minifigures so they can reuse the jumpsuits. Also, if they were bigfigs, it probably would have been mentioned.

I would like a bigfig Bane, just because I already have the minifigure one. Killer Croc, I’d rather have a minifigure for just the opposite reason.

I’m really glad they never made this design a reality. The torso being massively out of proportion with the head and legs is much worse than the bigfigs being out-of-scale with minifigures.

TBF, we are getting our first Arkham in 8 years and a bunch of villains we haven’t seen in around that long. So, we are back, just not as much as any of us would have liked.
