Is is possible that they moved the RC unit forward and squeezed a v12 cam engine behind it, using the rear facing drive outputs to drive the wheels and engine? Quote

Expand Does make me wonder how the bucket is going to be handled. Given that the bucket is a proprietary Volvo design, I'd put my money on it being a single element like the loader bucket. Long arm is hard to raise a lot due to leverage, and LEGO motors, especially C+ ones are too weak to move it properly for LEGO stadards. Quote

Like pretty much anything they could turn into a Technic flagship, it could turn out terrible or it could turn out great. For me personally, if it's the same as 8043 and 42100 (basically if it uses linear actuators), it's kinda pointless. We've already had 8043 and 42100 plus a plethora of other LA driven flagships. I actually could see myself not minding LAs so much but if it's all we get flagship after flagship despite a more mechanically authentic alternative existing, well how can I like it?! The last pneumatic flagship was the Arocs and we've never once had a remote controlled pneumatic set of any size. It's the overuse of LAs (especially in flagships) that has made me go mad, and made me go from seeing LAs as a novelty to wishing they'd just F right off! Quote

They could be seen as being flagship level, but they are their own subtheme of Technic. It could be (and I think has been) argued that the highest piece count for the year is what makes a flagship, but there is at least one exception to this rule, even ignoring the 1:8 cars. Ignore the 1:8 cars and the flagship is the most expensive set released in any given year. I don't think there's ever been any exception to this. As for flagships disappearing, well there are Flagships (8868 in 1992, and 8880 in 1994) and then there are "flagships" (like that forklift transporter truck released between them in 1993). What separates the men from the boys, the Flagships from the "flagships" is a different, much bigger question. Quote

Expand So by that logic last year's flagship was G Wagon or Apollo Rover.... Over McLaren. I am not concinced. Neither Apollo Rover or G Wagon fits into the shoes of flagship. Quote
