I agree with this. It becomes an expensive compromise. I still think the 9v Dacta system had the right idea. You had motors which had no fancy electronics or anything, just a plain ungeared motor which was cheap to integrate into regular Technic where most times that's all you needed it to be. But with Dacta, for robotics you also had a separate rotation sensor. It could likely be done better now with much higher resolution, but having things separate means you only use what you need for a set. Having a separate rotary encoder also gives you more flexibility, like you could use it without a motor to make you own joysticks/physical remote/train speed dial etc. Or you could use it in the joints of an excavator or in a powered steering mechanism for example, to give you position feedback no matter if it's powered by LAs, pneumatics or gears and levers. If you really want a precise motor then they should make a nice miniature servo or even a stepper motor. Hobby grade servos can be very powerful with lots of precision and accuracy and very compact while still being not that expensive.

I like that idea.  Mindstorms, before the EV3, also had separate rotation sensors.

When I got my NXT, I found that motors with integrated positioning were a godsend compared with those from the RCX (which, I'd like to remind, are standard Technic 9V). And most PU motors having absolute positioning is even more of a godsend (goddersend?) to me. I just wish the linear motors had their zero position engraved in their cases like the angular motors do.

But, uh... isn't this thread about 2025 sets? *huh*

Well is the door mechanism then the same as on the bolide or senna or something more complicated

...and based on parts count crom varous sources it is aproximatelly the same size...

Assuming it's an even 60 degrees, it's more geometrically like 10288 and 57585.  I wonder if there's an upcoming set with a triangular truss that benefits from it...

Hmm maybe lego is planning release a knex style set with this piece;)

It's actually visible here. Very interesting piece it opens up some possibilities

Whoa, that angle connector is funky! Not only the first four-directional angle connector, but the first one to connect at acute angles. This one's complexity might limit it a bit, but I wouldn't mind a part that's like half of this part with a 60° connection.

How many cars are there in this year line up? There are:

- 5 small car sets: 42204, 42205, 42208, 42212, 42213

- 2 F1, erm, cars: 42206, 42207

- A Nissan Skyline GTR, which is also a car

- Two pull back vehicles, which are also cars

That is 10 cars over 19 sets. What a time to be an old school Technic fan...

I must admit, I am one of those folks who's not usually very interested in Technic, but I'm a sucker for Space sets. If it's anything like the picture, I'll probably get it as soon as it hits 20% off.

42211 sounds interesting price like 42158/42181. Plus looking forward to 42215 with those 2300+ pieces.

That looks like a prime candidate for an RC set, if they stick to the image. Which they wont.

At $99.99 there is almost no chance that it would be RC.

That frankenstein connector looks really cool, I hope it's 60° and I hope they release other connectors with 60° or 120° angles as structures with three- or sixfold symmetry are currently quite difficult to make in Technic.
