But back to Steve, why can't he have a dress? Maybe it calls for a story where he could be forced to pretend he's a woman... or a Scottsman ;)

Obviously dressing up as a woman or Scottsman would be more pirate-friendly than racing ;

Or a Scottish woman. We'll call him Bonnie Prince Stevie. :pir-laugh:

@Mister Phes Can I do my own 25th post?

Thank you! That is Ironhook without the peg leg, which apparently some have speculated is actually Steve, which is why I included him. :pir-wink: Redbeard thinks he can get away with anything.

Apparently its Ironhook that Steve needs to be worried about.

In this round of challenges you can... but...

It appears the prizes have been claimed!

Or is there conjecture over who got there first?

Like I said in the other topic, I was trying to post both here and in the Mini Imperial Trading Post at the same moment, but the forum software foiled me. :pir-wink:

You may choose whichever you like to be the first to 25!

It appears your attempt to be a smart Alec has backfired! :pir-grin:

After you made a point of announcing a 13 year old girl had reached 25 posts, the honorable course of action would be to award her the Prize.

Nice build, great photo. One this is, I think the photo is a little too yellow. I'm unsure whether you changed that in post-production, but if so, maybe tone it down a little. Good work!

I have to disagree, the colour adds a lot to the atmosphere of the build. It would remove from the old-timey feel that the builder is going for.

I must agree with @Horation on this one- It definitely adds more than it detracts!

Also realized I missed a bit of a guessing game here with Steve's torso, as I haven't looked back at some of these older posts since before my trip. I also frequently choose minifigures based on their backs, as I don't have many from the medieval themes that I frequently build now. One of my favorite examples of this is this build: https://www.flickr.com/photos/197227990@N07/53109350152/in/dateposted-public/ I wish I took a picture of their fronts- quite hilarious; it was a mix of city and star wars, men and women, old and young!

@Math Wizard, that's a good idea for saving money or avoiding the wait of an order!

However, Star Wars figures are often more expensive than castle ones.

The Star Wars figures are from my brother's collection, so just pieces we already have. Even castle figs are a bit pricey a lot of the time, so I make do with what I have. I don't really like to spend much money on LEGO, which is why I enter lots of contests- so I can win LEGO for free!

I couldn't agree more!

Yet I couldn't agree less! Lego is always refundable (you can nearly always sell it for more than you bought it for), so you can never regret a purchase.

True, especially when you just win it, cause the price was $0!

Though most of my sets from my childhood were just city sets that aren't worth much more now. Meanwhile my friends with Star Wars and Bionicle sets are able to resell theirs for a ton of money :pir-sad2:

I have more than one Star wars set where the figures are now worth several times the original retail price...

But yeah, best price for Lego is winning it in a contest (though there's not much to compare to with the feeling of paying with hard-earned cash).

The best way to get Lego in my opinion is when you get old vintage sets for free from your neighbours who were clearing out their shed and have no idea of the value. Of course, it doesn't happen often, though!

I can't find a whole lot to critique in this small and simple build. I can really feel the atmosphere and I like the way you convey a sense of action and motion with the way Steve is posed and the placement of the bottle.

I think a little more colour wouldn't be a bad idea though. It's very brown and yellow (like the 70s). A little bit of blue or green would look good in my opinion. Like changing the bottle to green or swapping someone's torso out for a blue one or putting a flag or emblem hanging off a wall.

Yes, I was going for a torchlit night time feel. I actually didn't edit the colour, the effect is just from mis-setting the white balance on the camera. :pir-wink:

I'm glad you like it! A green bottle might look good, but I haven't got one. :pir-laugh:

You're welcome! Had a feeling that was the case. Well, I can visualise it in my head at least.
