The Nolan trilogy, in particular TDK and TDKR, is shot in a way that makes it feel more grounded than it actually is (mainly because it's just Chicago and Pittsburgh), but at the end of the day Batman can still fly, connect himself and a prisoner to a moving plane from a skyscraper, and has a tank that rolls down Main Street. The Batman's aesthetic feels less real world and more like a distinct Gotham, but he can't fly (the wing suit thing was so f'ing stupid), has to knock on the front door of a club to get in, and basically just has a Camero for a car. Interesting point! Indeed, I think the Nolan trilogy is about unrealistic events in a grounded setting, with the most unrealistic being, IMHO, the infamous Bat aircraft, criticised by EVERYONE understanding how aircraft work IRL. The Batman's scene of Batman's failed attempt to fly reminds me of Dragonfly - I think he will learn to fly at some point. If they don't decide to carry on highlighting Batman's stupidity and incompetence, that is... 1 hour ago, RedHoodPug said: By simply removing context I can change the tone of the conversation entirely. Mandalorianknight Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 1 hour ago, thephantasm said: The price of the new batmobile is so stupid, lego really wants me to stop buying They succeeded. I don't have the space for any big collections besides star wars, so I'm currently focusing on the essentials. Which means my Tumbler and a couple of figs are all I need for Batman. Now if they started doing more leaguers again, a new flash, WW, and/or lantern could get me buying... Which I think speaks to a wider issue with the theme- diehard bat-fans may be interested in collection a thousand batmobile variants, but are less batman-intensive adults? Are kids? Most companies try to cycle a new set of kids in every 3 years or so, and that fits with how often lego remakes sets like X-wings and TIE fighters. A batmobile a year- especially when it's the only non-gimmick system set- feels like it's just too much. 4 hours ago, RedHoodPug said: Shades of Mater there. Battinson did WHAT in his cup? Quote

Just give them a creator Lantern set where they can actually let their imaginations run wild by building their own unique constructs. Quote

You have the options to make construct: mechs, a small pirate Galleon and Kaiju. Edited June 1, 2024 by CloneCommando99 Quote

We want adults to want this too, so we need the price to be high so it seems premium. 1 hour ago, CF Mitch said: Why not just a box of black bricks and have kids design their own Bat-Whatevers? It's not a good deal, and I'll wait until I can get it for 30–40€. Quote
legoturtle Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Well, first of all... piece count is fan made thing which does NOT mean much. Then you can count weight of the set BUT once again... a fan made stuff... I would say that TBAS Batmobile is 1 off the best DC sets ever made. If you don't like it "Earth Blue" fix it something else? 1 of the best things is that is for DISPLAY but also for PLAY. That is something I hope we see more in the future! Quote

legoturtle Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Well, I have quite many Robin minifigures. 1 of my favourite from TLBM. I try to collect whole theme. Guys, what you think of this clip / this movie? I somehow think I should by it (Apple TV). Quote

I think that it’s one of the better out of recent DC films. There are good emotional tones. The story is fun. And I liked the 1984 reference even though it was disturbing. King shark is easily one of the funniest parts. (I still can’t believe it’s the same actor as Rocky) Be warned it is very violent and gruesome though. Overall I highly recommend it if you want to try some of the better non-Batman DC films. Quote

Then you can count weight of the set BUT once again... a fan made stuff... It means quite a lot. Lego can be a hobby and it can be a business. If it's a hobby then you will have a limited amount of your income to dedicate to it. That amount varies from person to person, but everyone except the offensively rich has to justify the money they spend, be it allowance, savings, or disposable income. For some their income doesn't rise in accordance with their outgoings, in which case that Lego budget gets smaller. Let's take an example with this theme. Set 7781 The Batmobile: Two-Face's Escape from 2006 contained 386 pieces and cost £24.99, meaning price per piece was 6.5p. Set 76274 Batman with the Batmobile vs. Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze from 2024 contains 435 pieces and costs £54.99, meaning price per piece is 13.8p. That's more than double. If you want a more recent comparison 76224 Batmobile: Batman vs. The Joker Chase from 2023 contained three more pieces but cost less, being 438 for £42.99 or price per piece of 9.8p. That's 4p per piece or 45% increase in a year. I would really like the new set, but this is one time when I am definitely going to be looking for a reduced price. If you have a career buying Lego for model making then a reflective price increase will mean that the amount of Lego you can buy for a set price will go down. This means that either your fees go up or your models get smaller or both. If you buy Lego to sell on like for example someone on Bricklink, then the price you pay will mean either your profit margins get smaller or you charge more for the things you sell. Incidentally there are freak spikes in value of sets like the original Batmobile, which now consistently commands ten times it's retail price on the after market. In short price per piece might be a fan made thing but it is incredibly important. Quote
