Centrifugal clutch

I’m planning on building a race car moc using a model airplane engine, but I need a centrifugal clutch so that my engine can keep running, I haven’t been able to find anyone else’s designs for one. The one I made works but it’s a little big for what I want. 
Has anyone else tried making one?

I think, I remember seeing something, that was built inside that dbg part You are using in last picture.

But that is more like one way clutch

Yes I have seen those designs, but they won’t work for what I’m trying to do, I need a centrifugal clutch like what’s in a chainsaw, some thing that will still allow the engine to spin constantly until I raise the rpms.

Ah ok, then sorry - thought the 1-directional clutching with allowing for free spin would be enough already.

 

But you want to have motors running a main crankshaft for moving the pistons and from that allowing with some kind of rpm-limit driven clutch to move the real drivedrain, if I got it correctly?

You are more than a little crazy 

I have no clue how (or why) you'd mount that thing which vibrates like crazy, gets very hot, and spits oil everywhere inside a plastic thing which can easily stress fracture, or melt, or get dissolved by oils.

And that's before we even consider what that type of motor will do to a plastic axle.

It'll also almost instantly shred the rubber connectors you've used as clutch shoes.

I don't think that for this case You could use something smaller.

I think I might go with the clutch I have, but I will have to do some stress tests(and probably should buy some more rubber pieces). I have some Meccano parts that I was going to build a mount out of, and I was thinking of ordering metal pieces from a company called Metal Technic Parts, but I’m still figuring out if I’m even going to do this project

Chances of it failing somehow are high... but yeah, MTP parts are nice - but aluminium, so keep in mind they easily transport the heat.. :D

Here is v2 of the clutch, this one I think will work better plus it uses tires which should hold up better than those rubber thingies

Interesting idea. I was looking for something similar for air motor use. I would be grateful to someone who can make a really good and working version.
