…why would they celebrate the theme‘s 11th anniversary

Agreed. If they didn’t celebrate the 10 year anniversary celebrating the 11th sounds kind of ridiculous and unlikely.

When did we see the 2022 mechs leak? I’m hoping we see the new mechs sometime soon. I actually ended up regretting not getting the Captain America mech when it released. Currently looking forward to the possible comic based Rocket and finding out whether Ghost Rider is a better face print for Ronnie, or a blue flamed variant. Also excited to see what movie the Quinjet is based on.

Oooooo I didn’t even consider that Ghost Rider might be the blue flame one. They probably won’t do it since it won’t be as easily recognizable as the og but I’d love to have that one.

Prediction: the Avengers sets next year will be the anniversary sets like Harry Potter

Prediction: no.

If they wanted to celebrate the anniversary, we would've gotten sets this year.

Also, Raymundo is first and foremost a collector of prototypes, oddly coloured parts, and misprints. Sometimes he gets ahold of leaks (like that new plant part or Tonks‘ hairpiece early this year), but those are usually prototypes as well.

It could still be from an upcoming set, but since that hammer piece is not exclusive to Marvel, it could be a random weapon wielded by a Ninjago antagonist or a greebling detail in a bigger set to name two examples :shrug_oh_well:

Other than 76222 and 76224, which might not happen at all, that's it for 2022 Lego Marvel as far as we are aware. @Captain Nemo 2023 thread when?

On the bright side, Instagram is slowly fixing itself to be something other than a completely broken mess and is finally showing the additional hashtags, so maybe we'll be able to actually use instagram to find images... A revolutionary concept to be sure.

@Ransom Fern is apparently planning to do something with his version of 76210 Hulkbuster, potentially modifying it. So keep an eye out for when that happens. Perhaps they can salvage the set.

Chances are we'll see the 2023 sets in around a week or two, or at least the mechs, so fingers crossed they have fixed the issues from the 2022 sets. A new mixel joint piece for the connection to the legs would be really useful so hopefully we get that. I really hope the Rocket Mech is actually a mech version of Groot, would be neat. Best set of 2023, Miles Morales Vs Morbius, is scheduled for January so we have something good to look forward to in the new year.

I wonder how hulkbuster is selling

You think its selling? I was probably the most attached to it and even for me its a pass, unless it drops severely and even then it'd require a lot of changes to the design so it'd be more akin to a parts pack :look:

Best case scenario? A mixture of delays resulted in the 10th anniversary wave getting pushed into Spring/Summer 2023 - such as Quinjet, Hulkbuster and the missing 76222 and 76224. Though that is best case scenario and not as realistic as them just revisiting specific sets under the legacy theme. We won't know for sure until we see both of these sets, but hopefully we'll see them before the end of the month.

Though a golden Thor hammer shared by someone who is into prototypes, miscolorations, etc... is not enough basis to remark on golden anniversary figures.

It's Robbie not Ronnie and considering the set includes a motorcycle it is most definitely NOT Robbie. Blue flames would mean Danny Ketch and that would be great considering we have yet to get him and using the version of him when he had blue flames would help differentiate him from Robbie and Johnny whom we've already gotten. As a mega Ghost Rider fan, I'm very excited to see pictures of this new set, hopefully it won't be much longer before we see it.

Manage your expectations. This is many times bigger than anything I ever worked on and I have had to abandon many projects that are a lot more simple

Thanks for correcting me. Honestly the biggest anticipation regarding said set is confirming whether or not we’ll actually get a villain. I still don’t like the thought of a $35 set with just one figure. Especially if said figure ends up being a repeat.

But the fact that all the mechs, the Morbius and Ghost Rider sets are set to be comic based is wonderful. Feels like 2022 was so MCU focused and not in a good way (looking at you $550 Hulkbuster). I mean I guess we got Spidey and Friends sets but thats cartoon and not comic based (but who’s counting?).

Agreed, it's great to get more comic-based sets. As much as I love the MCU, it's incredibly limiting and a lot of characters I love, like Ghost Rider, have yet to appear in the MCU.

I'm almost done building the Black Panther bust and it's honestly pretty disappointing. I was excited for it because I thought it was a nice display piece, and I still think that. But the design does seem to cut some corners. I understand that LEGO designers have to work with challenging restrictions and Mark Stafford did an incredible job here for the most part. But there are more gaps than I expected and several panels on the helmet are so loose that I had a hard time attaching them and keeping them in place. And while I love that pink and purple pieces make up the interior to represent glowing vibranium, those colors poke through a little bit in too many places. I don't know why some of them weren't done in black instead to prevent that color leaking through.

Between this and the Hulkbuster, I think I need to re-evaluate which Marvel sets I buy. I've been a Marvel completionist for several years but these D2Cs have really disappointed me.

Personally I think that with the Marvel line doing well, they tried to turn it into the Star Wars Line with multiple big UCS sets every year. The problem is, Star Wars just inherently lends itself to more large sets, in multiple formats. While the marvel line definitely has that potential too, (I have and love the Bugle), the Sanctum could have used a bit more love, I think they need to choose more carefully.

Black panther is awesome, however they could have done a regular helmet for much less and I'm sure it would have done well!

Hulkbuster just cost too much, and there are already so many sizes and versions. They should have stuck with a $300-$400 version at most.

Star wars had years of standard UCS at $200 before dropping in occasional bigger sets, and even now they are going crazy with multiple larger and expensive sets. I think the Marvel line just needs to pick more carefully and slowly build up those big sets!

Marvel is the superheroes, the characters, the costumes and the design.  Lego has to give us minifigures, explore vehicles and locations as a side dish, and occasionally create themed builds.  Occasionally, they can't do 50 builds, big and small in a year, without minifigures, or almost ... one D2C a year is fine, but like the Bugle, not the bust and the HB 😑

Guys, hello everyone!
Please tell me, how long are LEGO sets being made? Right after the 2nd half of the year? Or how?
Sorry for the off-topic question

I don't quite understand your question. Do you mean how long does it take from the start of a set's design for it to show up on shelves? How long a set is produced before retiring?

These Marvel D2Cs have rivaled Assault on Hoth and Camp Nou for the worst D2Cs of all time. The BP bust is not only a weird choice, but has failures even as a display piece. The Hulkbuster is a solid idea for a D2C, but has horrible proportions and as such also fails as a display piece.

Yeah... I wasn't ready to put the Black Panther set in that camp when it was revealed but I kinda agree after completing the build. It felt very weird to me and I completely lost steam by the end because of how unfinished and rough around the edges some areas are. I feel like it needed one more pass before it was released. It's definitely not up to the standards of other LEGO D2Cs build quality-wise, although it still looks awesome on display if you can ignore the gaps and colors peeking through the black.

Looks like Rescue will be included in the next LEGO Marvel magazine, certainly a great opportunity for those who didn't get the Hulkbuster set

I mean 1 question

I saw it leak with brick clicker. Thanos is the current magazine and that one is advertising black panther as next. So presumably rescue won't be until March 2023?

So, I was able to get a look at the Hulkbuster at my local LEGO store. The size is staggering and really neat. To be honest, the only thing that would bother me about its appearance if I didn't have any familiarity with the source material would be the height of the shoulders relative to the head.

I'm really tempted to get it and modify. I don't mind tinkering with certain sets, and this would be a good challenge. It would look sensational if a few things were changed. I get this shouldn't be something we have to do to a set, but it's close enough that some fixes would get it pretty close to the source material. Once double or triple VIP points comes around, I may pull the trigger.

So I just saw Black Panther Wakanda Forever and I wanted to give some non spoiler commentary on the 3 sets that accompanied this movie.

1. 76211 - Shuri’s sunbird was a great choice for a set but I felt the wings were inaccurate and should have protruded farther up from the back than they did. The wings on the rear of the build we got felt too compact. Additionally, Riri has long hair for the whole movie (braids) and I do not feel this hair piece is representative of how she appeared at all. Would have been nice to get a new braid piece for her. This is in the same vain as Shuri having short hair for the Infinity Saga wave despite having long hair in her Inifinity War appearance and they didn’t even print her long braid.

2. 76213 - this outift never made it into the movie (Shuri) and I won’t spoil what she does wear (even though it has no impact on the movie at large). Just going to speculate this was based on source material and maybe this was a fit Shuri was meant to wear, but regardless the fig we got here does not appear in any scene. Great recreation of Namor’s throne, tho.

3. 76214 - I wish we got more Atlanteans in this set. For $80 its a shame we got as few figures as we did. My sentiment for the wave at large is that we needed more Atlanteans. This set provided the perfect opportunity and 5 figures just feels cheap. Additionally, Shuri needed leg and possibly arm (but definitely leg) printing and the mostly black figure feels cheap in hindsight.

All in all the builds for this movie were incredibly relevant to the plot and movie at large. My only complaints are that we needed more Atlanteans (and the largest set needed more figures in general, and provided the best opportunity for more Atlantean figures). And yes I know they were not called Atlantis in the movie. Finally, both Nakia and Riri had long hair in the movie, with Nakia sporting locks and Riri sporting braids. If we couldn’t get a new mould for each, it would have been nice to get a new mould for the locks and have them share it. But neither character sported short hair and paired with the largest set only having 5 figures, and the main protagonist not having leg printing, the only real complaint for the sets comes down to the figs. More blue skinned baddies were needed and the hair choices were inaccurate. Besides that a very solid wave for an incredible movie. Tis all.
