SaperPL Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) This is a type of steering for a tracked vehicle that uses so-called subtractor which means input from motor used for steering is subtracted from the main drive input Edited March 23, 2021 by SaperPL Quote
aeh5040 Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) That is compact! And I like the symmetry - a pity the motor placement breaks it. Edited March 26, 2021 by aeh5040 Quote
SaperPL Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 Thanks! Actually I could do a bit better with less gears and better gear ratio with new differentials. Also for a bigger model you can make neat final drives with gear reduction: 4 hours ago, aeh5040 said: a pity the motor placement breaks it. For Powered UP it doesn't really matter because the XL motor is just an L motor in disguise. Also if you want to make a relatively small tank model, this means you can fit a third L motor on the other side. Quote
1gor Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 That last solution could be something used in this years flagship Cat dozer Quote
SaperPL Posted April 20, 2024 Author Posted April 20, 2024 While being stuck on the steering for my Sherman, I figured out a remix of this subtractor: Quote
JoKo Posted April 23, 2024 Posted April 23, 2024 That's very nice and compact! I will for sure try to use it for a next self locking differential vehicle. Quote
