It was pretty random that they suddenly released it.

Could it be argued that it was so good, it had almost gone around the galaxy back towards crap? No, probably not. It was awesome.

That was released on 01 Aug 22, aka 4 years and 17 days ago, which is outside the window I presented.

Even if I weren't being pedantic, the galaxy explorer is a drop in the bucket compared to the boatload of sets that were random crap (like all the sets that had orange classic spaceman, but lacked the airtanks).

And was in production till end of 2023 which is well within the 4 years ;). But anyways I also liked the Brown Spaceman they included in the CMF (which certainly wasn´t a crap either). For all the rest, of course whether you like those sets or not is a very personal point of view, still even if I don´t like one of them, I just wouldn´t call them random crap.

Including the spaceman in a cmf of random other characters is principally just as scummy on TLG's part as the other random inclusions in 200 dollar sets (though that's a broader issue I have with blind bags).  

You seem to be missing the the forest for the trees in regards to the random crap comment.

Just that those bags aren´t blind, as people can easily scan them. ;) But yeah, not a fan of real blindbags either, for the obvious reason.

No, but I just don´t agree with the wording. And probably you are seeing it from the wrong side. For you it might be an evil company that wants to force you to buy an expensive set to get a classic spaceman - or even just some parts of it. However, in reality, it is  Lego designers that are fans of classic space and trying to get new colours of it avaiable, because they love them themselves. That doesn´t mean of course, that Lego isn´t aware that it has its fans out there hence sets like the pinball machine get approved. 

I would be all for more classic (or other) spacesets, but that doesn´t mean that I can´t be happy for other small inclusions in other sets - sure I wouldn´t buy the sets just for that figure and neither would I pay insane prices on bricklink for them - but as long as they are avaiable on PAB I don´t see a reason to complain here.
