Do you guys think it would be possible to build a 1:8 Scale Supercar from 2 Land Rover Defender Sets?

I've already seen what could be done with the Land Rover Defender Set for B Models, but what I'm wondering is what can be done 2 of the same set to form one car. Just like how someone built a Ford GT out of 2 of those Orange Technic Porche's.

I'm thinking about buying 2 soon, any ideas guys?

For me, my skill with Lego Technic is basic at best. I've just been on a 1:8 Scale Supercar kick lately & I'd really like to see what can be done.

You could definitely build one with two copies, only problem may be the lack of curved panels.

I believe the most popular is Madoka1977's version of this monster. Hard to compete with his version :D

They are the same size as Porsche, Lambo or Chiron wheels. Diameter of the tire is the same, but they are more narrow and then more realistic for 'normal cars'.

@tomek9210 Wow, I didn't know that, thank you! I need to know more! Can the 1:8 Porsche wheels be swapped for these? Has anyone done it? If yes, do you have Pics? Is the offset different?

But a superar in 1.8 scale has bigger rims and thin tires. Ok the external size of the tires maybe is the same, but with small rims it cannot be a supercar, at least the look of the car would not be good.

Depends on your definition of supercar. Dip back into the nineties and further and they will be bang on.

a nice project with two defenders might be one of those six wheel range rovers, or a bowler?

or go left field and build a big trak.

That does sound like fun, but I was hoping for it to be 1:8 Scale though. I was actually looking up 8 wheeled Supercars earlier today too just for the heck of it.

@Robo-Knight The Land Rover Defender kit is a really good one for parts. I got two myself although I have completed the Land Rover. It's just the parts were so diverse that I could use the second kit on multiple other projects. So with two kits you should be good for the technical bits needed for a supercar mechanics. I mean, you get three differentials of two types, multiple gears and axles, four, sorry FIVE good sized wheels, interesting connects and such. Theoretically you could build a 10 wheeled truck. More interesting if you were to ask me, than a supercar.

However, as others have said, in terms of panels, and especially round ones you're a bit limited.

Whatever you decide though, you do need to keep in mind that you need patience. It can take weeks or months on end to finalize a vehicle design. So you need to be on the mindset that not only the end result matters but also the experimenting and prototyping. You could get ideas for 10 different vehicles before you finish your super-car just based on attempts that you thought would work in this case but didn't - but they would work in other cases.

So I say - It's possible, go for it, be patient, understand that the experience you get may be useful for future projects and good luck!

That's why I was thinking about using light grey, white & dark tan pieces for anything that's curved.

I wouldn’t pick the Landrover as a parts donor for a modern supercar. The lack of curved panels will be killing for the bodywork.

maybe there are some really boxy designs from the eighties that you can replicate.

even the very angular designs of the extreme Lambo’s will require curves.

with the Landrover I’d stick to more utilitarian vehicles like the Avtoros.

I just wanted a unique color scheme. I don't want 2 cars that have the same color scheme/brand to them.

Build what you've got, let the pieces lead you.. the forum is full of supercars. Do something different, you've loads of wheels and diffs and gearbox bits... admittedly i find 'another' supercar less than exciting, so i might be biased, but it would be great to see some 8 wheeled mad-max style beast.. go nuts would be my advice!

I appreciate that sentiment. When I was designing my Audi R8 the Sian’s colour was not known yet. I was hoping for an olivegreen version which would have been a much nicer colour for the Audi than darkazure (or lime).
It is just that the Defender really isn’t an easy partspack for supercar shapes.
