Great Ball Pit Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 (edited) Hey everyone, I was at BrickCan 2019 this weekend displaying GBC with several other builders and Milan Reindl was there as a guest speaker (and he shared his journey to becoming a technic designer, which was interesting). He revealed to us 3 new Technic sets during the opening ceremonies, and put emphasis on us being the first people outside of TLG to see the images. The images shown had the usual Lego Confidential stamp so I didn't take any photo's. First was a Yellow Spider Crane, second was a Car Transporter + Sports Car, and the 3rd was a Control+ 4x4 Rock Crawler that had big burly wheels. As well he showed us the giant Libherre but we already knew about that. The scale of the spider crane was hard to determine but it looked tall, and the legs spread out quite a bit. The Transport looked okay, it's nice that it came with a vehicle to transport. The rock crawler wheels were really off-road looking I think they are a new design, the articulation of the front and rear axles looked impressive. The control+ app had the same sort of telemetry as the Lieberr in regards to seeing the current angle of the vehicle as it drives over things. Edited May 6, 2019 by Great Ball Pit
Johnny1360 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Good News everyone, hope to see official images soon then. The crawler is just becoming more and more interesting to me now.
MajklSpajkl Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 So the tires on the crawler are not as those from Xerion or 6x6 all terrain? That would be like candy sweeeet !

That would be like candy sweeeet ! I'm not an expert on all of the Technic tires available but I do remember looking at the image closely and was impressed that they looked new and large and not like those tractor wheels. (I'm almost certain they had a different tread pattern)
JackBloomer5 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 What about the rims on the crawler? Were the standard rims or new ones designed for the new tires?
keymaker Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Wow, super news. What can you tell more about 4x4? Any chance they mentioned about new portal hubs and universal joints? Or any new "metal" parts?
Maaboo the Witch Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Are the Arocs gear racks on the Spider Crane actually yellow?

Yevhen Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 (edited) What wheels are used in the car transporter? Are the new long actuators used in the car transporter and spider crane? Edited May 7, 2019 by Yevhen
Legomister Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 pity that number 42100 now only comes out in october instead of august 2019

No but seriously, and I am not sure if this better fits here or in the 2019 sets thread, but as that thread is already a billion pages long I will post it here. In terms of the Crawler, if there are indeed new, stronger hubs and even metal gears Lego really is heading in the arena like Minds-i products or something. https://mindsieducation.com/4x4-robot-3-in01-kit.html Folks that complain about the price should be aware of this. Although we don't have specifics, and certainly, whatever TLG is proposing for the crawler still won't match something like full RC or Mind-i products it is a step closer, and prices will match that. Folks can complain all they want of the 229 euro price tag or whatever it is is still certainly less than good RC build-yourself kits.

Transporter scale wasn't that large, (it was a double decker trailer) and It was shot from the front so I couldn't see any actuators. I feel like the sports car it came with was about 11-13 studs wide. The transporter itself was a 1 box design, did not have a snout like the mack. Edited May 7, 2019 by Great Ball Pit

That sounds very promising Thank you very much One thing crossed my mind; what tire will Land Rover defender have; something smaller like 75mm with similar tread (set 42120)? Edited May 7, 2019 by I_Igor
Zerobricks Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Bigger wheels and tyres would explain why Lego developed new, stronger hubs and CV joints.

That is logical thinking; in few months we will see... Remember when we were discussing about Land Rover tires, here is s chance to have something between 68.7 and 81.6 tires and bigger tires on crawler could be used on big machinery sets in future, perhaps something to fit Liebherr ... Johnny1360 Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 I am glad we have this thread also, to help confusion.

Great Ball Pit Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 (edited) Not sure what there is to be confused about, I've seen the sets and posted what I can remember. One other thing I remember noticing is that the car transporter had the small wire fencing up top (i guess they are to prevent the delivery guy from falling off the top?) Similar to the image below. Johnny1360 Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Confused as to why we need another thread to discuss the 2019 sets. I am glad you were able to see them and I am grateful for any insight you can provide. It just seems like now we are getting a lot of double posting. Somebody reads this thread and then turns around and posts it in the other thread. Please don't be offended but it is a bit confusing, to me anyway.
