For the Hogwarts express, I think they would save that for wave 2

From what we've seen so far, I agree. Of course, seeing Lego can sometimes make bad choices, (hello "UCS" Assault On Hoth) it could be in wave 3. I doubt it though.

Haven't wanted pictures of a lego wave in such a long time! Anyone else incredibly excited by the return of Harry Potter and the possible future waves?

Yes, maybe with a dementor from Prisoner of Azkaban :classic:

And that’s the perfect place for a new Lupin figure! I wouldn’t be surprised if they make the train for wave 2. The most iconic train scenes are the flying car with the train and the dementor attack.

I doubt they'd do another Ford Anglia, if it's supposed to be in the Whomping Willow set, so I think a Hogwarts Express based on PoA is more likely

Yeah, that’s what I meant. The most memorable train scenes involve the car and the dementors, but since they did the car in another set they should do the dementors in a Hogwarts Express set.

and since 2018 brings new city trains, 2019 is a better year for a licensed train

Yeah. Why are we speculating about 2019 if this thread is about 2018 though? There's still plenty of stuff we don't know.

Regarding the poster, gosh guys I wouldn't look too much into it...

Of course!

Can’t believe how well they’re keeping these sets under wraps. Excitement building!

Well, going off the what the designer of the great hall set said in reaction to an "unfinished" model appearing at Toy Fair, I suspect the sets are still in the later stages of development. So they might only just now be in a state of readiness to actually be shown.

Well he said it was on his desk 8 months prior to the toy fair, so they should be in full production now I guess. They also had press-release with the finished set, but they are getting better at containing leaks and the sets were not in the catalog sent to toy shops so that will stop a lot of potential leaks..

I have a suggestion when we can see a new set! A new HP game is released 25/4, it is not unlikly Lego will reveal a new set then like they did with the trailer for FB

That would be great if they did, about a month before UCS Falcon was released Lego would release a teaser each week, like a whitened out picture of the manual and box, or comparing it to the size of another large set, or showing an animation of all the pieces coming together. It'd be cool if they did a similar thing here with the Hogwarts set.

But what if they are still not ready? :sceptic:

So about the sets not being ready and why we haven’t seen anything yet. These sets come out in August and we have seen the final images of two of the 6 sets we are getting that’s better than what we normally see. The sets are designed and ready but I’m pretty sure they haven’t hit factory production, the sets that are coming in June have just started to hit production. They will probably hit production in June and we will see more leaks then

Actually 7 sets. Also CMF plus Hogwarts, but D2C is coming in December.

Personally I hope and guess that Lego will reveal more of the sets before the leaks start to show up..

Anyway leaks or not, they have to advertise them some time before August I guess.. I have asked this before, but how do shops know which sets to order if they have not seen any pictures? Do they order blind from the place-holder pictures or do they get a updated catalogue closer to summer? Most toyshop owners do not go to toy fairs every year I assume :sceptic: If anyone can shed light to the mystery it would be appreciated

For one thing, it’s all digital now I know that. I am pretty sure they get the original catalogue that leaked for summer 2018 or something very similar to that

I believe retailers get an updated catalogue, but remember that retailers don't need to see the sets, they just need the prices, sizes (for working out which sets they have rolm for) and when the sets are available.

Yeah. As excited as people are about what’s coming everything gets very muddied when genuine info from people who know, gets mixed with info from people who are mostly guessing along with wishlists from people who hope something is coming. The lines between each becomes blurred. Add in fake leaks and it becomes painful to read.

My rule is normally if SVL or Cat havent said it then I’ll take it with a pinch of salt. Nobody else here has actually seen anything or is likely to.

Nope. No, believe me, I certainly get that sorting out the real info can be tough and confusing, but it shouldn't just run off as a "blank check" of sorts to ignore folks who likely do have a basis in fact. I'm not annoyed, because at this point, yeah, I haven't been around for as long as SvL or Cat; however, I don't really think that you needed to add that. Just ask.

If you're in doubt, I won't worry about it too much; however, I'd invite you to check out my post history if you so desire. :)

I think they made it in bricks because of fantastic beast. As they do beasts in brick in FB, they want to do the same thing in HB. Moreover, it cost less expensive to use bricks for beast.

Well, I mean, the suitcase is already a $70 set; if I had to guess, TLG is going to really push the whole "create your own beast" deal. Very curious to see how they do the box... maybe like Go Brick Me?

USD Prices are as follows -

75950 [Aragog] - 14.99 US

75951 - $19.99 US

75952 - $49.99 US

75953 [] - $69.99 US

75954 [] - $99.99 US

So, there are a couple of different embargo dates (set for info/descriptions, not release) that I'm seeing for HP/FB, but one thing that is consistent is that the FB sets are under wraps for a bit longer than the HP sets. (Usually from a couple of weeks or so.) 75956 has the same date as the HP sets; not the general release FB sets that we're aware of at the moment - 75951 & 75952.

It's not something that I can conclusively lean on right now, but I'm keeping it in mind. :)
