Latest news about Lego animal moulds

The Cowardly Lion looks to be similar in size & pose to the Eeyore figure. I don’t think it’s much use to be honest, but will reserve judgment for now! 
The flying monkey looks like some weird composite with the wing piece from the Cupid CMF and either a variant of the existing monkey or something new. 
 

One thing I will say though - the shepherd pup as Toto is both cheap and an abomination. 😝

I’m glad I picked up plenty of the Wizard of Oz minifigures from TLM2 - they’re really excellent, and that Toto is perfect.

The head of the Wicked monkey is way to big to be the previous monkey mold.  I do agree about Toto that is just bad by lego.

I couldn’t really make the monkey out on the pic I saw 🤷🏽‍♂️

I think some designer is getting a bonus every time they shoehorn that puppy into a new set - it’s the only possible reason!

It definitely seems a bit smaller than the previous adult lions, and I’m not sure how realistic the sitting pose is, but I could see it looking amazing recolored something solid as a sculptural element. Seated or lying lions flanking or surrounding things was a fairly common design element at one point in time and plenty of those places still exist (see Nelson’s Column or the New York Public Library). How cool would it be to see a pair of them flanking the next big modular building?

I think it's a bit larger than Eeyore.

I don't think lions ever sit like this, so it's not very realistic, but I love the idea of having this as a statue! Though, I also love the idea of having a not-sad lion, but you can't have everything, right?

I was gonna say, it is a statue. A big, unmoving block of plastic. Too big to be one piece IMO. Modern horses are about that big and have moving parts.

Now that you mentioend “horse”. I would like to see an unprinted gray horse as a statue with a knight mounted.

Agreed. I mean, they already have a lion mold that has moving parts. On the other hand, I know absolutely nothing about Oz and if someone told me the lion there IS a statue, I'd probably believe them 😅

That is a great idea, now I can not unsee the statue when I look at the mould

I know nothing about Wicked, but luckily the lion looks better there than in the original film, would be nightmare fuel to get a animal mould looking like that

Probably a more boring reason; budget, they spent all the budget on the other figs so could not afford to bring that mould back from the dead

…qué? A $500 fish tank?! That’s gonna be interesting, since even with the largest currently existing panel pieces it’s gonna look funky  The fish must be brick-built, I imagine! At that scale, they kinda have to be

Like what do we even know? Is it supposed to be like a fish tank or an aquarium like the building? I can’t see Lego going anywhere near Seaworld type controversy - so I assume it’s a domestic fish tank setup, and presumably an ‘adult’ realistic set… all of that suggests to me that we don’t get any actual animal moulds in it.

I just saw an image on Reddit with the fish tank announcement, showing the 3-in-1 Creator tank. Of course the first thing I saw wasn't that, and I was like "WTF?? This primitive thing for $500???" Then I saw the Creator label, and then the piece count.... and closed Reddit silently & shamefully 🤣

I assume it will look spectacular why else would a set like that be released Maybe some kind of coral-reef set up with amazing part collection. I have not much hope for animal moulds either, but that would explain the high price. It probably look odd with a great white shark in a small fish tank even if the scale is right. A return of Spongebob do not make any sense either other than explain the high licensing fee

Not just bad - as @williejm puts it, it’s an abomination! Almost on the same level as the Friends Apartment chick & duck!
