Hey everyone, It's been almost a year since @Roebuck shared the link to my Brick Bestiary here and made me aware there are people as crazy as I am about LEGO animals. It has been a pleasure reading your posts, learning something every time, and smiling at the occasional rant (the gold medal probably goes to @williejm 😂 ) I wanted to share another project of mine with you. While it's not only about animals, they have a special place and get a very special treatment. When BrickLink decided to pull its marketplace, I was afraid I'd lose my access to the site altogether, and decided to create my own database. A bit overkill? Probably, since I learned that wouldn't happen a while after, but the snowball started rolling and couldn't be stopped. Six months later and it's open for public registration. It would mean the world to me if you can take a look. Spread the word if you think it's worth it. I've put a bit too much love in it, but if you spot anything that shouldn't be, I'd be more than happy to hear it. Although, I didn't see a lot of parts from other Dreamzzz sets either. Usually minifig parts would be listed, that's how I got all the characters when the theme first came out. They may be released later, like the parts of the Vending Machine.... or never 😅 You never know what they're planning!

Rebrickable knew 😂 I still have no idea what the other set is, but I saw it months ago listed on RB. Good to know they’ll be listed on PaB. I’ll call my smugglers 😏

Oh, animals of the world series were amazing!! Those always make me think we need similar sets in System. I got one of the big ones in clearance, and it turned out some DUPLO animals are better scale-wise than System. Besides, my 82-year-old kid (aka my dad 😅) loves them more than anything. I’ll definitely add this year’s hedgehog to the collection! With all the doe/deer talk… we still don’t know where the doe will appear, right? And exactly what the bird patronus represents?

Oh I have no intention of canceling out anyone. I WAS one of those “mostly-purist weirdos” until a few years ago. The change came with a personal enlightenment (which I won’t go into details right now). I respect every collector, animal or otherwise. I do, however, like - no, love - reading you guys bickering about animal stuff. I’m here, wondering when I’ll be able to get an animal I want, and someone’s like “Well, I went to the factory store this weekend, couldn’t find 20 pigeons, only 15” and suddenly I feel “Are you frigging kidding me??!” 😂 First world problems, I guess 🤪 Joke aside, I just feel so lucky that there are people that care & geek out about this subject. For me, that’s finding a huge pond of drinkable water in a desert. Even if I don’t always join the discussion, it‘s always a pleasure.

Personally, I think Miles-Stego is sooo much better than the one coming with the Jurassic sets of this year. I also love the DUPLO Spider T-Rex. The others, not so much. But to be honest, I dislike them because of the mold, not the mash-up. I’ve never been a fan of Pokemon, but I may get a few if they’re relatively easy to get. My “animals” include the stone gargoyles and the round plushies 😂 I really liked the Insider set with the vault. May be because it was the first one I had the chance to see more of (my friend had it). Maybe one day I’ll even have my own 🤞

I agree with “your collection your rules”. I wasn’t trying to get anyone to like them or anything. It’s just feels weird. The topic says LEGO animals, but Friends ones are ignored (DUPLO too :P ). I always prefer minifig-based animals, but even when I didn’t like Friends, I was amazed by the amount of animals they got. For me, it’s not about just collecting or liking a certain animal (or theme). It’s the history, evolution, timeline, etc. That’s why I’m bickering 😅 I meant no offense to anyone. Personally, I’d get excited if they brought back Scala and re-released those giant horses 😂 Not City, but there’s a minifig-based set using Friends animals. With Minnie and Daisy, if I remember correctly. So it’s already kinda happening.

Nooo, I would never 🙄🤣 True, the scale is a bit weird along with the design. Still, I have always been amazed about the variety of them, both color-wise and species-wise. There are a handful of animals traveling between minidoll and minifig based sets, though. Maybe the number will increase in the future. Speaking of variety... did you guys know there's a new DUPLO hedgehog? It's adorable!

The lack of love you guys have towards Friends animals always amazes me. The new brown (medium brown) has already been released with a seal in the January wave of Friends, with set 42699. No, it's nowhere near as good as the City seal, but it exists. Friends animals exist, people, and some of them are pretty good. Don't ignore them 😂😂

I stopped comparing the size of animals a while ago. I mean, think about the smallest bird, duckling, and the spiders and ants. Sure, decreasing its size would be best, but if they release it in black with a nice print, I’d gladly accept it.

I’d love to have a crow. There’s an accessory-like one but it always seemed too small. The Dreamzzz one would work, if we ever get it colored and printed. I’d like a dodo, too, but I doubt that’ll happen any time soon 😅

You know, I’ve been waiting for a robot T-rex for years. So glad they’re making that 🤪 The overall list isn’t too bad, though. Marine biologist sounds promising for a new animal. Also, what on earth is a Boba Cup??

Yeah, I know that feeling. They've been growing on me for the past few years, though, and I'm glad they got rid of the eyelash thing, at least in some of them. Well, obviously System style animals are the best. But I have a feeling in 50 years or so, Friends may completely replace System - at least on non-licensed themes. Luckily I won't be around to see that
