LDD has had functionality problems dating back to the OSX Mountain Lion (10.8, 2012) update if I recall correctly, so OSX Lion (10.7, 2011) might have been the last time LDD was working with the latest Mac OS. There are plenty of user testimonials to these issues here at Eurobricks.

Other programs I'd like to use--Photoshop Creative Suite, TurboTax--require you to update. File taxes, or keep LDD... Hmm, which should I choose?

I have LDD working on OSX El Capitan (10.11); startup however is painfully slow.

Far over the MOC mountains cold

To brick-piles deep and pieces old

We must away, ere break of day

To find our long-awaited 'grade.

The fans were roaring on the height,

The AFOLs moaning, in the night,

The fire was red, it flaming spread;

Their tempers torching, blazed with light

So did I. I can imagine it being sung by the dwarven cast of the hobbit, except in Lego form, like in the LEGO movie... dang, someone one should do that and brick-film it while we wait!

Well, although it is not exactly that, I made a short some kind of proto-intro to possible LEGO Komix I planned some time ago but actually never got too far (I have like few minutes done but ah, no time and interest left these days for such a huge work...but maybe sometime later, who knows?).

EDIT:

For some reason I have difficulties opening my topic (do not know if it is just me having something broken here or what), so I am putting the video here (if the link is OK, please let me know someone and I will remove the vid from the post so not to duplicate it, sorry for now)

Nearly the end of the year, and still no update? I don't mean to constantly bump this with nothing but 'Where is the update?' but there is literally nothing else to talk about.

And to think—in less than three months, it will have been an entire year since the last update.

I can only hope that there'll be an update by then. Otherwise I might just have to move over to LDraw or a similar program. It used to be that LDD was the program to beat when it came to releasing new parts soon after their release (especially parts from themes I enjoy like Bionicle or Hero Factory that got less attention from other AFOLs), but now I'm not sure it will reclaim that status even if an update DOES come.

And I will be sticking to LDD even if it won't get an update. Because everything else is beyond my comfort zone. It's that simple.

This. LDD has simplicity, and I've been able to create substitutes for SOME of the parts we're missing anyway.

Oh, I have little doubt that I'd stick with LDD for the most part for random sketches and concepts. From my experience, there's no other digital building software that's anywhere near as user-friendly. But it's getting to the point where I can't models on LDD that are polished enough to be worthy of presentation—especially not in the themes I like. Elves? Not only are all of the specialized molds introduced for the theme absent, but LDD has gone YEARS without mini-dolls, and even if it does update I don't know if that'll ever change. Bionicle? LDD used to be pretty much the best available program for digital Constraction MOCing, but not only has there not been an update since the Bionicle theme was rebooted (meaning I have to use clumsy substitutions for the new masks, heads, and other parts), but basic Technic is also starting to fall behind (with many useful panels, gears, and other functional elements being unavailable).

I'm not saying I would abandon LDD entirely, but it's getting to the point where I'll want to explore my options. LDD is getting more and more out of date as time goes on, and it's getting to the point where relying LDD alone for digital building is impractical and unsustainable.

There is always Mecabricks.

Perhaps Lego has come to realize this with the whole Lego Worlds cross over. I would imagine that they take a look at all of their products and assess if it has reached the end of its life. maybe LDD as we know it has hit that wall. And instead of pressing on with bricks for this LDD they are really working on something new. Something that will require the brick data to be translated to a new format? I don't know, but I do think its unusual for Lego to allow competitors (even to free software) to take over, when in almost all other cases they have taken over something 3rd party and brought it in house.

A few days ago i opened a service request at LEGO service, because by updateing my Macintosh to El Capitan LDD doesn't render the borders of the bricks anymore and i can't activate this feature. I's greyed out.

The reply from LEGO was: El Capitan is not supported by LDD 4.3...

So are we still waiting

For them to start updating

Can't find a good reason

But still want to believe in

Tears shed

The forum has been read

Our words are only reprimand

We can't change the builds of creations

We just need some motivation

These eyes

Have seen no convincing

Just lies and more contradicting

So tell them what would you say

I'd say it's time too late....

So are we still waiting

For them to start updating

Can't find a good reason

But still want to believe in

Notices

And understanding

We're the first ones to jump online

We post here for we believe in

But who's left to keep on dreamin

How long

Will we wait this

It's not hard to see our impatience

So tell them what would you say

I'd say it's time too late

So are we still waiting

For them to start updating

Can't find a good reason

But still want to believe

This can't last forever

Time will make things better

They have to atone

Can't do it our self

And no one knows

If this is, pointless, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me so

What have we done

with a fight that can't be won

This can't be real

Cause we don't know what to feel

So are we still waiting

For them to start updating

Can't find a good reason

But still want to believe in

So are we still waiting

For them to start updating

Can't find a good reason

But still want to believe

Call me a fool for still having hope, but now I was thinking, maybe we'll get the update in December as a Christmas present from TLG? Maybe they planned it all along? Maybe It's a really huge update, with all new bricks released this year, or maybe even it will be LDD 5.0? We'll have to wait another month to find out...
