//"Log date 338, This is Dr. Danielle Long, reporting from the Axle. We left Xerillian today. Glad to be off that irritating desert planet. After filling the appropriate casualty report and seeking medical attention to my surviving Octancorp brand trooper, to whom I've bestowed the name Trooper 2, I was able to obtain several samples of the ubiquitous arachnoid creatures endemic to the planet. They are being analyzed as I speak in O.C.S. Axle's pristine labs. Naturally all paperwork related to such has already been filed. As head Scientist aboard the OCS Axle, and highest ranking Scientist in Octan's Andromeda branch, I ensure that all paperwork is flawless. Next target is F09. Dr. Long signing off."//

//"Log date 339, This is Dr. Danielle Long. The following report is encrypted. Security clearance level: TOP SECRET.

The Axle has received a distress signal from a remote sector on F09. Cross-checking within the code database showed likely Kawashita origin of distress beacon. A specialist has been notified.

Dr. Long Signing off."//

//"Log date 340, This is Dr. Danielle Long. The following report is encrypted. Security clearance level: TOP SECRET.

Kawashita espionage expert Jebediah O'Reilly is set to arrive at the Axle after an equipment drop on H09. He believe the distress beacon may belong to a Kawashita Science Vessel reported to have gone missing about 4 business weeks ago. The Vessel was suspected to be carrying research on a form of genetically modified super predator. A ream is being constructed to retrieve the research aboard the ship, as well as any other pieces of Kawashita technology which may be of use to Octan.

Dr. Long Signing off."//

Aboard the O.C.S. Axle, in Orbit of F09

Mr. O'Reilly: "You know, this was supposed to be my week off." :sarcasm:

18789571506_6e5fea2c87.jpg

Dr. Long: "Vacation requests may be denied on late or no notice should...."

Mr. O'Reilly: "I know the regulations."

Dr. Long: "Right... Of course. So. The team has been assembled. I still need one more crew member though... I'm not willing to risk any of my own tech specialists from the Axle on this. They're all doing Octan's good work, and I cannot spare one. I'm going to visit an old friend..."

Later, aboard Dr. Martenz's research vessel on F09

18193270084_f7539029b1.jpg

Dr. Martenz: "Danielle, It's been too long. I trust you are here to inspect my pathogen research? I believe some of these specimens may be very promising to Biomass collection from this planet!"

Dr. Long: "That is not why I am here today, Dr. Martenz."

Dr. Martenz: "You did arrive before I expected you to... What can I do for you?"

Dr. Long: "I need one of your new hirees for a top secret mission. According to his file, he is a robotics and technology expert. A certain Kodan Black."

Dr. Martenz: "What?! Great Scott, Danielle! I'm hardly running with a skeleton crew here! There's so much to be done, and I have such little staff! I cannot afford to go without a single on! Not even a robotics specialist! Let me at least have an ensign from the Axle to carry out his duties in the interim?"

Dr. Long: "This is not a negotiation, Dr. I will assess your shortage of staff on my routine inspection scheduled for two business days from today. Until then, I will hear nothing further on the subject. Now, would you kindly direct this Kodan to my office."

Dr. Martenz: "...Yes, Dr. Long."

Location undisclosed. Surface of F09.

//"Log date 341, This is Dr. Danielle Long. The following report is encrypted. Security clearance level: TOP SECRET.

Kawashita vessel located. Tech appraisal and extraction has commenced. Biomass indication from inside the vessel. Crew dead.

Dr. Long Signing off for now."//

Kodan: "Hey! Look what I found!"

Dr. Long: "Excellent. I think we all know what to do with that. We've been looking for one of those for so long now. Excellent work. You were certainly the right pick for this job."

//"Status update: Tech retrieval success. Files on the genetic modification process have been procured. And, of course, Trooper 2 generously unwittingly volunteered to play host to a sample of the Kawashita super predator's genetic material. He will be analyzed in a Maximum security lab aboard the O.C.S. Axle, as was corporate's order. Dr. Long out."//

This is the largest hollow anything I have ever built. I was planning this for a few weeks. Got a bit rushed at the end, but I think it turned out well. I just regret not getting better pictures. More pictures on my flickr. (Link in my signature)

That's a really amazing craft you've build there. Looking extremely good despit it being from the wrong company. I also like your character but I sure hope she's not going to give H3 any commands!

Thanks! I've been working on that sucker for a while now. It features every single dark red piece I have, so, that's one reason I did not join Kawashita.

My character is just following corporate orders! They wanted a sample of the super predator in-host. Dr. Long is obliged to follow all such orders on penalty of full forfeiture of pay.... not that she needs such incentive. She's more of an Ash than a Ripley.

Thanks!

Hey, it's me! ;)

Love the landscape and that big, beautiful ship. Glad I wasn't red shirted like Trooper 2!

Thanks! The landscape was mostly to frame the ship (and it ended up using up all of my dark grey slopes regardless of the BURPs. )

Oh no, I wouldn't Red Shirt you, you're plot shielded! Glad to see a tech specialists among all these wet scientists!

That ground is all kinds of cool - but then I saw the ship! Amazing. I'd love to see a few more pictures of the ship in a spoiler tag. Fantastic work. Like the story too.

An absurdly cool ship. I love literally everything about it - its shaping, it's coloring, those slopes that sort of just die off… It looks so sci-fi in such an inventive way. I literally cannot heap enough praise on it. Fantastic!

This is an incredibly beautiful ship on a equally beautiful terrain!

Also, a great story that includes a new player!

Amazing. That ship is just amazing for being used as a derelict. I love the reptilian look of it, kinda like some kind of dragon or the Ragnarok from Final Fantasy 8. Excellent work.

Great story made even better by that amazing ship! It's very artistic somehow - I can imagine the whole crash scene as concept art for a sci-fi film or series

That. Is. Awesome!

Amazing ship for sure, and the monkeys in the tubes cracked me up!

Wow, Excellent work on the story! That crash site build looks great!

Thanks!

That is an amazing ship! The way it sits against the rocks looks just like it crashed there. Good job.

Thanks! I actually had to remove a section of the ship in order to get it to rest like on the angle I wanted. Very much like it crashed and lost that panel in the process!

Thanks! I actually ran out of grey slope pieces on that! I had hoped to lead up to the ship like that, so I'm glad it worked! I added another pic to the spoiler, and there's one more on my flickr (link in my signature), but unfortunately I did not take many pics from other angles. I might revisit the ship at some point though, if I don't immediately dismantle it. Maybe I'll de-derelict it!

Thanks! I was aiming for a very mild biomechanical feel, and it's very very loosely inspiref by Giger. I wanted it to appear skeletal in a way.

Wow, fantastic work on the ship! Great rockwork too

Thanks! I'm glad so many people like the rockwork too! I would have done more, but pieces constrained me more than time on that.

This is an incredibly beautiful ship on a equally beautiful terrain!

Also, a great story that includes a new player!

Thanks! We'll I was looking for a tech specialists, and wouldn't you know, the next person who signs up is a robotics expert who built on F09! I couldn't pass that up! It also gave me a chance to characterize Dr. Long as the obstructive bureaucratic hardass she is. "There's always a bigger fish..."

Amazing. That ship is just amazing for being used as a derelict. I love the reptilian look of it, kinda like some kind of dragon or the Ragnarok from Final Fantasy 8. Excellent work.

thanks! I was inspired by the anomalocaris, and a lobster, but I agree with the suggestion that I may have channeled the ancient might of a decrepit draconic creature while building it.

I have a thing for extinct sea creatures, though...

 high praise coming from you! Did you catch my reference to your build?

That. Is. Awesome!

Amazing ship for sure, and the monkeys in the tubes cracked me up!

Thanks!

Hah! I saw the opportunity and I seized it! I wanted to provide a sense of continuity from Kodan's scene to mine, and establish Dr. Martenz.

I love how in-depth your stories are (although I wonder what Troopers 1 and 2 did to deserve their fates).

Fantastic ship - great angles and very organic looking - good work!

Thanks! I love writing them. I'm a huge fan of world building (and homages to great sci-fi).

Trooper 1 was disobedient and did not collect my samples quick enough, and Trooper 2 was too obedient.... and both forgot to fill out their next of kin information...

Thanks!

This ship is massive and beautiful. I love red.

Thanks! It is quite large. and you certainly chose the right faction if your favorite colour is red. That is one of our three colours!

The judges awarded you 6 points.

Thanks!!!

Wow, I've looked at this thread probably four times now, but haven't had the time to comment yet. Really, really beautiful ship, very Mass Effect-reaper feeling over it. Love the details, the design, the tie in to earlier M.A.N.T.I.S. posts, everything! You should have joined Kawashita if you enjoy making Kawashita ships though!

Hey, it's our main colour!

Fantastic! I love the little bits of stuff lying around the ship, like that massive red gear. It really sells it as a crash site. The green dinosaurs are also great. And hey, look it's me!

Hey, it's our main colour!

Thanks! I do that too! I wanted to capture that biomechanical feel. I love semi-organic looking ships, and I feel that fits Kawashita more than Octan (who I'd associate with a more boxy industrial look.)

I chose Octan because when I signed up literally every other post was a sign up for Kawashita! I was the third to join Octan. Literally! And that was on like the 4th page already! but also I don't have hardly any dark red (it's actually all in this build. When I bought the helicopter set with Deadpool, Wolverine, and Magneto, my dark red supply literally tripled. Also I don't have a lot of dark bley. What I do have plenty of and hardly ever used before now, though, is white.

Kawashita was my second choice thoughn but I got in on the ground floor of the Octan super corp and I have no regrets! here's to an Orwellian future!

Thanks! I knew I wish the smaller red ear was viable in any of these pics.

Yup! I immediately thought "chest burster" when I saw them. We'll see them again, I'm sure...

Wow! That is quite a large ship! Nice touch with the glow-in-the-dark cheese slopes.

It was probably bigger before it crashed! Thanks!

They glow in the dark? Huh. I haven't gotten them to do that yet...

That ship is really awesome! One of the most original designs I've seen built with Lego.
