Help to get list of bricks in LXF

Recommended Posts

I have updated the script:

Greasemonkey PaB Script

Lego changed the url of the shop.

The only change is that the script should now be restricted to 'http://customization.lego.com/*'

I'm not sure if greasemonkey has been updated aswell, if that is the case you need to change the line in the script

from shop.lego.com/... to the url mentioned above.

Hey Thanks pacc for your script.

but I didn't find what to put as input : my wish is to have the list of brick of a LDD file.

I tried the Mr Hobbles script but it always tell me "undefined" for all my bricks

my (the last version) of LDD can export directly to .lxfml, I think the JS script should take this as input and when I click "Go", I hope to see almost every bricks of the model in the bag (and if possible a list with undefined bricks ElementId).

I think it's not difficult to parse the XML file and extract designId + materials because, If i'm not wrong, the ElementId expected by PAB is the concatenation of both values.

pacc, can we discuss about this evolution ?

@ kaneda-dry: You should upload your LDD .lxf file on Rebrickable.com -- that site can do everything that you wish. Be sure to took at the site's tutorial.

The aim of the script you reported above is to avoid to lose the list of bricks strenuously added to the "pick a brick" cart when the browser cookie is deleted (for example, when the browser is restarted). The script takes the list of bricks in your chart and allow you both to save it in a text file and refill the chart from the previously created text file.

The only problem occurs when you try to resume a list that contains bricks that in the meantime has been removed from PaB. In this situation you have to remove these bricks from the text file or you will obtain an error and the script will not work properly.

As matthewclso told you above, probably Rebrickable is the best solution for your needs.

If you are looking for a local software, take a look at the Section Index (at the software paragraph) to see if there is something suitable for you.

Built with LDD and then order with PaB is not a very effective strategy!

PaB has a very limited choice of bricks, so your creation will be very limited too. You should at first manually create a custom palette including only the bricks available in PaB, then try to built something with such a limited choice. Then you have to export the BOM of your creation and try to convert it in a format that the PaB Script for Greasemonkey can read and use to fill the PaB cart.

The format used by the script is easily deducible adding few bricks to the PaB cart and exporting it.

In the past LDD had a PaB Mode, that allow you to build using LDD and then order from LEGO site your creation as it was a lego set (with box, instructions, etc...). Unfortunately, this functionality was removed few years ago, probably due to the hight costs that personal sets needed.

Rebrickable has a different aim, that is to show you what you can build using the parts from official sets and other imported list. It can help you to manage your BOM, but AFAIK not to upload a brick list to PaB. Take a look at the site to discover its functionalities.
