  1. Great looking set! Not a fan of all the female knights/soldiers, but if I wind up getting the set, I'll just PAB some heads. Just wish the set had a proper King/Queen/Prince/Princess.

I wrote my own. Now that I am thinking about it, the intention was for it to be unrecognizable at first, like there should be an "Ah ha!, that's Hoke," moment mixed with a "Well, who are these other people." I may still be able to do that with minifigs, hopefully soon. And yes @Zepher, I stole Vipera.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

The air was cool against the dragoon's face as it whistled by. An autumn chill nipped at him as he pulled his fur skin mantle tight around his mouth and nose. Torc's body heat kept this core and legs warm. She was never cold. "This is long past due," Hoke thought to himself, having only had contact with his family by letter for years now. He snapped out of his thoughts and focused ahead, chasing the setting sun on the waning horizon. Stars began to twinkle high above him. The view was breathtakingly spectacular. He would now have more time, he hoped, to enjoy these simple moments. The rhythmic movement and sound of Torc's body and wings was relaxing, almost hypnotic. He sighed, becoming overcome, thinking about these past years spent in service to Heroica. How many people he met, how many adventures he had been on, the lands he had seen, the... POOF! He barely saw a pink cloud pop in front of him as a parchment folded into a letter smacked him square in the face. Annoyed, he peeled it off his nose and cheek as it flapped in the wind, almost slipping of his face before he could secure it. He read the letter quickly and smirked, shaking his head. "And I thought I was done," he said aloud. He couldn't help the exhausted sigh that escaped his lips as he fished for a charcoal stick in his pouch. He wrote: @Flipz If my peers believe me to be fit for this office, then I accept. My proposal is that each party should elect a representative. That representative will present their ideas, issues, and what-not to the Council. The Council should have 7 to 9 members. These are my only recommendations. All other decisions should be made by the people of Eubric, their representatives, and the Council. Heroica is to be a non-entity in the political workings of Eubric. If these terms are agreeable, I accept. I will guide the Knights, Dragoons, and Paragons in executing their duties righteously. However, I will not be returning alone. - Hoke du Bennett He folded up the parchment and tossed it over his shoulder, leaving it to fate as the note disappeared with a small flash and a small pink cloud.

Something for next time: there should be Faction team members that roleplay the various NPC factions. If we could get GMs to be assigned or sign up to represent certain factions, that would be great.

Thanks! I appreciate the compliments. Truth be told, Hoke is me, or at least the better parts of me. I made nothing up with him that was a stretch for my simple imagination. When I told other players to play it like YOU are there, that's exactly what I did. I've had that ending in mind for some time now, just wish Vipera would've been there to make it extra perfect. Heroica has been great. Hoke was there at the beginning, and I am glad he was there for the end. Thanks again to anyone and everyone who was ever involved with this game.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

As the details seem to get more and more complicated, with each Heroican throwing in their thoughts, Hoke quietly gathers his pack onto his back and slips out the door, glancing back one last time at the people and the Hall. He closes the door slowly behind him. He steps out into the street and looks up to see Torc circling. She lands where he stands, and he climbs up onto her back. He sits tall in the saddle, looking about one last time. "It's time to go home," he says to Torc. She lazily beats her swings against the air, gently lifting higher and higher. Soon, they are just a speck on the horizon and then nothing at all.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"I've got an idea for your council, Atramor. How about we take the... hm, six seems a fair number... six most influential groups in the city. People who have power, but also the respect of the people, the majority let's say, the Hovels being a minority of the city. So you take the six most influential groups in the city... and make sure, too, that there's some rivalry between them so they don't all become cozy with each other and strip the city bare. Those six factions can all serve as the council. And then, since they're the rulers and what not, they should have some sort of authority over the Town Watch. And what's more, maybe they can sort of direct Heroica at what sort of problems they think need solving. They could come to the Hall to post quests for us to go on. Sound good?" "Why not set up the council, and let the council elect their own 'leader-king'."

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"This lot here, especially the hairy one," Hoke gestures dismissively at the politicians,"He shouldn't even be here. All that he has done has been for his own benefit, for his own power. He acts as if he's the savior of the poor, but they are really just his pawns." Hoke takes in a deep breath and exhales through his nostrils. "And then the rest of them. It's as if they have been planning this. They can have it. I'm only here now out of curiosity, but not for much longer. I'm ready for home. It's been long enough, and I have accomplished what I set out to do." He looks at the Veteran, up and down, wondering what conversations Cain had had about him. "As far as being a paragon, I did it fully with the intention of returning to the dragoon. There was an opportunity for her, Torc, in Dastan, the land of the dragons, to learn from her kin, an experience that I couldn't provide. That, and she needed to grow. My eyes were on her too much in battle. I picked her when she was just an egg. I saw how fragile she looked, so I decided to just let her grow and get accustomed to me. I returned to a Mystic Kknight and in battle she clung to my neck and shoulders, as if she was my armor." Hoke chuckles to himself, remembering a time that seemed so far away. "It was much simpler then. We'd come into this Hall, I would sit in this chair," Hoke said as he patted the cushioned high backed chair by the hearth he was currently standing beside,"and we would enjoy each other's company. And fight. Lots of memories, lots of adventures." "It was better then, not for everyone, mind you, but it was better. Now we have this," he says, again gesturing half in disgust and half in exasperation,"Back room squabbles of kingmakers."
