Licensed Technic Sets.
JTS posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was wondering whether Lego would ever reintroduced branded Technic Sets. And I'm not talking about Ferrari, Williams or Lamborghini. From memory I can only recall there being a few Technic star wars characters, but never any vehicles. So my questions to you guys are do you think we'll see it anytime soon, and if so what would you like to see? I'd personally like a Batman Tumbler and a BTTF DeLorean that lights up like a Christmas tree. -
As originally published at Nom-mage Since I haven't been able to get the 30190, I'll review the minifig set of the Shell promo, the 30196 Ferrari Pit Crew. I must say, this promo set has the most value. Three minifigs for about 3 EUR at the most is a very, very good deal! The Polybag This set has 50 pieces, which is a lot considering this is a minifig set. Minifig parts Their accessories Instructions As expected from Lego Ferrari sets (and as seen in the minifig parts), this would require stickers on their torsos. Not using them would just make the minifigs "generic". Sticker sheet My favorite piece here would be this one. I forget what it's called (Erlenmeyer flask?) Reminds me of chemistry class Again, 3 EUR for 3 minifigs is a good deal. Of course you have to gas up at least 25 EUR of Shell fuel (Philippine mechanics) The minifigs Ferrari Race Mechanic with jack Ferrari Refuelling Engineer with refuelling machine Shell Track Scientist and her chemicals The refuelling machine was the most "complicated" build, but the chemicals were the most intriguing with all the transluscent pieces, and of course my favorite Erlenmeyer flask. After all was said and done, the set yielded 4 extra pieces. Seems like most Lego Ferrari sets that has minifigs would always include an extra visor. Extra pieces The whole gang Pinoy minifigs clowning around with the crew On to the ratings: Design: 4.5/5 - The race mechanic accessory was pretty straight forward, but the refueling equipment plus the chemicals had a great look in spite its size. Parts: 4/5 - lots of translucent round plates, perfect for Lego cars, plus that Erlenmeyer flask. They could've explored a different jack for the race mechanic though. And then there's the stickers :| Build: 3.5/5 - pretty straightforward. Nothing special. Stickers were a pain as usual. Playability: 4/5 - can be easily added to any Lego town or Lego Ferrari set. Price: 5/5 - can't say it enough. 3 minifigs for less than 3 EUR is a steal! Overall: 4.2/5 They say you gotta have an oil change for a chance to get this set. Then again, I got this set with a normal fill-up. Try asking your local Shell station, you might be lucky like me!

I've had a bunch of licence-related MOCs on the go for ages, but this time last week, inspiration struck - and I've quickly pulled together this MOC of 'The Homer'. This is the car from The Simpsons episode Oh Brother Where Art Thou? where Homer designs a terrible, terrible car for his long-lost brother's car company. In the show, the results are disastrous... But for me, this has been a lot of fun. I built it across three evenings, and used the recent Hot Wheels version of The Homer (only £1.75 in supermarkets here in the UK!) for reference on the proportions. I avoided looking at the one or two other MOCs of this out there. DSC_0263 by MOChael, on Flickr That's the main image and the gallery has more shots, including some comparisons for size with Wetwired's excellent LEGO Ideas ECTO-1 from this summer. Most pleasing part of the build has been using part #12708 - this is one half of the Christmas Baubles you can by from LEGO S@H and the retail stores. I've wanted to use one in a build for ages (and have a bunch of ideas in my head but not had any time to implement them until now). Here, I think the contours inside the dome (which usually hold a dish when actually used as a christmas bauble) suit the windscreen really well. It's obviously an unorthodox piece, but I do consider it a true LEGO piece - the whole on the tab at the top of the dome is stud-sized! That's how I was able to make something with a Technic peg/pin that created a structure to hold the horn and also helped hold the dome in place. I build it with a bunch of PAB wall pieces - that lime green colour is rife at the moment, and spot on here - plus four Mixels packs and some of my spares.

Hello everyone! I don't post a whole lot on Eurobricks, but I made some custom minifigs after seeing Iron Man 3 last weekend that I felt like I should share. It was a great movie with some great characters, so here they are! I don't have a whole lot of flesh parts so I made them with yellow flesh, but I think they still turned out pretty good. I also tried to stat as purist as possible. Anyway, enjoy! Tony Stark - Tony Stark after he crash lands in a snowy town. Happy Hogan (1999) - Happy sports long hair and a goatee at the party in 1999. Happy Hogan -Happy's present-day appearance. (This fig could use some work... ) Harley - The science-loving, potato-gun wielding kid that Tony meets in the snowy town. The Mandarin - A terrorist who is more than what he appears to be... Aldrich Killian - A scientist behind Advanced Idea Mechanics and buyer of the Extremis virus... ...and he also subjects himself to it, enhancing his physical abilities immensely. - And here are the two minifigs side by side. - A duel between Stark and Killian. Eric Savin - The gum-chewing Extremis soldier who helps steals the Iron Patriot armor. Maya Hansen - An long forgotten love interest of Tony's. She's also the inventor of the Extremis virus. Pepper Potts - Tony Stark's girlfriend. - Killian offers Stark Industries a place in his company. An altenative suit concept I came up with: - Just made this to kind of make the Lego head seem less massive. Thanks for viewing!
