MOC. Built October the 12th, 2014. Improved and partially rebuilt January the 18th-19th, 2015. THE CHALLENGE WAS TO CREATE A TRANSFORMING ROBOT USING ONLY & EXCLUSIVELY PIECES INCLUDED IN THE 31008 SET and my options were limited. The vehicle mode is a slightly futuristic military jet. The robot mode is quite similar to Generation 1 Transformers Seekers (e.g. Starscream) and to Macross Valkyrie. Legs are well poseable (thanks to the ball joints introduced few years ago) and shoulders can rotate 360 degrees (connected with wings) and tilt (left/right). The hands look like pliers, but in the set only 4 fingers (another cool piece very useful for robot models) were available. The robot mode is headless because this robot is intended as a mecha with an human pilot sitting in the cabin (like Valkyries from Macross/Robotech)... so I decided to keep this way.But with some of the small pieces I didn't use everyone could easily create an head. The orange sloped pieces were used to build a weapon... a sort of battle axe. More pics here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/398312

In the vein of HawkMech, here's another MOC built using parts from 31008 Thunder Wings. I wanted to build a Stegosaurus-like dinosaur, but the parts wouldn't allow it, so I invented one, with a single row of dorsal plates and one pair of spikes in the thagomizer. As the plates are so tall and in a single row, it also reminded me of a Dimetrodon, hence this MOC's name being a mixture of the two. The biggest challenge I faced was the tail: how to make something thin, centred, and able to oscillate side-to-side (for defence against predators), using this limited selection of parts? I managed it with some SNOT, and even so it ended up looking a little weird. "I'm evolving, I'll be a biped!" "When you gotta go, you gotta go!" "Won't somebody pet my belly?"

Here's something I built to practice "single-set MOCs"... a mech using just the parts from 31008 Thunder Wings. As in my opinion the set has too many main colours (white, black, orange and blue is just BOLOCs), I tried to make orange as hidden as possible, and I kind of think this ended up well... Besides the poseability in the legs and arms, it can also convert into an aerial form, for faster movement. Considerations about this first try: the design ended up good, and I managed to give it quite some articulation using the set's parts. The aerial mode could integrate the terrestrial mode's legs better, and the ball joints are a bit too weak for the "knees".
