  1. Agreed. I'm not overly impressed but I always regret not buying each year's WV or modular set so I will probably buy it. Would be good to combine it with an Xmas GWP if they become available.
  2. I took my eye off the ball with the modular buildings in recent years and missed out on Town Hall. I have MISB copies of all the previous years models. Really need to ensure that I buy PC, PR, DO and BB. I'd like a second copy of PS to put two town houses together and a second copy of GE to add an additional floor.
  3. That's truly wonderful. Well done for producing such a beautiful LEGO building!
  4. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SZzP_JgZJ94/UGFwVc3yFlI/AAAAAAAAENo/Ys0qiow4Nzk/s1600/1593_persil_promo.jpg I remember sending off for the quota of two 886 Space Buggy but I didn't get the 1593. Should have got several copies of 1593 as a MISB copy nowadays is very rare and very expensive.
  5. Does anyone else think that some of the modular buildings are "more modular" than others? CC and GE have the most potential for adding additional floors and expansion with multiple sets. 2 GGs built asymmetrically side by side would look good. You could do the same with PS. MS, FB and TH don't seem to have the same potential with multiple sets.
  6. I was planning to take advantage of the "Brick" Friday weekend offers but have just placed my order today! Free delivery, 2nd exclusive vignette set and 10% off
  7. If you go to the seller's feedback can you select "Contact member"?
  8. When I've found auctions like that I've messaged the seller and asked politely whether they would make an exception. I think in all cases they agreed to send to the U.K. Beware that you don't get stung by customs charges that can make the item not such a bargain!
  9. ?? I wasn't arguing with you and I haven't disagreed with you that the OP should request and deserve a replacement. I agree that the LEGO pieces probably are fine. My point is that when you buy a LEGO set you shouldn't expect the retail box to be squashed and damaged whatever the reason you buy it for. Perhaps most buyers would be happy to receive boxes in that condition. Personally I wouldn't and I don't buy LEGO sets to resell at some future date. It is the acceptance of poor service and practices that encourages parcel companies to have such disregard and lack of care for their customers' items.
  10. If you collect MISB sets then the condition of the box is important. If you wanted to give the set as a birthday or Christmas present then the condition of the box is also important. It doesn't matter what the "reason" is for buying the set it doesn't justify receiving them in squashed and damaged boxes.
  11. The OP isn't overreacting at all. Do you really think that the LEGO sets are in an acceptable condition? The problem is caused by courier companies not giving a **** about their customers' parcels and letting them get bashed up like that. However, the onus is on the retailer to put it right as they contracted the courier company. Amazon are good at replacing damaged items. I have had LEGO sets damaged by an incompetent parcel company and Amazon replaced the sets without a fuss. They will also complain to the courier company. The problem (in the UK at least) is that delivery drivers are paid very little per parcel and this is reflected in the poor "service" that you get. However, this shouldn't mean that you have to accept squashed and damaged items.
  12. I think it's supposed to represent light reflecting off the top of the screen.
  13. I think the symmetric townhouses with the bay windows on the outside looks great. I plan to build two copies of Green Grocer in the same manner.
  14. This is a great review and I enjoyed reading it. I have to agree with the comments of other posters that it appears to be rather 'thrown together' and <insert that tiresome argument>. I prefer the Marina over this. I didn't get 7994 from 2007 but I do have MISB copies of 6541 and 6542
  15. I'd thought about building one townhouse as a mirror image of the other and putting them together so that the bay windows are at the right and left-hand sides. This would make a "full" modular building.
  16. I collect MISB sets and missed out on CC and MS. I paid £200 for a MISB copy of MS and £280 for a MISB copy of CC a year ago. I think this is the most I was prepared to pay for MISB copies of both sets. The modular buildings really increase in price on the secondary market once they are discontinued. I made sure I bought two copies of GG and one copy of FB while they were still available at S@H. I need to make sure I pick up a copy of GE and PS!
  17. I also sent a message to LEGO Customer Services about this and they replied quickly stating that the extra pieces would be dispatched from their warehouse in Denmark. Thanks for the heads up and information about this
  18. This is a great article Kristian It's good to have details of all the LEGO Town houses together in one place. I think my favourite is 6365 Summer Cottage - a classic early '80s set.
  19. I bought two and both boxes were crushed. However, the quantity bought should have no bearing on whether they arrive crushed or not. Also, it shouldn't be down down to luck or whether RM mishandle it.
  20. If you have the same problem as me then telephone High Life Shop and tell them to send you replacements properly packed in a box. I asked to speak to the supervisor who is called Catherine. She called me back after speaking to the warehouse requesting that the replacements were sent in a box. If enough of us complain and don't just accept it then they will have to change how they package the sets.
  21. A word of warning to those ordering this set from BA High Life Shop. I ordered two sets and they arrived today in a padded envelope. Both boxes were crushed and squashed. As I collect MISB Lego sets the condition of the box is important to me and I don't like to receive boxes that are crushed and creased. I telephoned the High Life Shop and explained that the items had arrived damaged and pointed out the fallacy of sending them in a padded envelope that gives no crush protection. They are sending me another two sets but this time properly packed in a box and I am returning the damaged boxes at no cost to myself.
  22. Thanks for that - I've just ordered a couple
  23. I thought I was the only person who did that
  24. How about some tree and flower packs to bring some natural decoration to our towns and cities? Also, some basic street furniture such as lights, signs and benches. - Trees, flowers and bushes - Fences, gates and benches - Lights and signs Basic items that bring a city to life...
  25. An interesting read Hive and some informed thoughts I've always considered the Crusaders to be part of the Lion Knights faction and not a faction in their own right. I differ in your opinion of the Royal Knights as I think there are some good sets in that faction, in particular 6090 Royal Knight's Castle. I'm not keen on the Dragon Knights, Fright Knights, KK I, KK II and Fantasy factions. The classic Lion Knights, Black Falcons, Forestmen and Black Knights cannot be surpassed in my opinion. Of course, the new Kingdoms theme has bought us a new Renaissance to the Castle theme and we can look forward to the new sets this Summer!
